September 9, 201410 yr I actually just picked up a pair of season tickets for the "Coach's Corner" seats (which are bad seats at Nippert but pretty decent at PBS) for $100 each. At $16.66 a game, that is insanely cheap. My girlfriend is an OSU alum so originally we were thinking about going to OSU for the UC/OSU game but I decided I'd rather go to all 6 UC home games, and have some money left over for beer, than go to Columbus once. That is a heck of a deal. My season tixs usually average $40 something per seat at Nippert, upper deck at Shank Pav. great view.
September 9, 201410 yr It is strange. It could be worst, your entire season could be over after only two weeks. Ahem tOSU.
September 9, 201410 yr ^For that to happen, you have to get to a level of football prominence in which losing one game means your season is over. Most teams are nowhere near that level. Ahem Cincy.
September 9, 201410 yr I just wish OSU would have been undefeated when UC beats them. Oh well. Watching them lose was fun.
September 9, 201410 yr Jeez Cincy. Such hate for everything Ohio. #Brohio Hey, we root for the Browns when they play against Pittsburgh, and the old Browns in Baltimore.
September 9, 201410 yr Jeez Cincy. Such hate for everything Ohio. #Brohio Not really, just the fact that tOSU fans can't understand that their are actually residents in the State that are NOT Buckeye fans
September 9, 201410 yr Jeez Cincy. Such hate for everything Ohio. #Brohio Hey, we root for the Browns when they play against Pittsburgh, and the old Browns in Baltimore. The purple things that cover up murders and beat women never were the "Browns". The Bearcats are actually my second favorite college team, for one more year.

September 13, 201410 yr Really good start to what could be a fantastic four years with Gunner Kiel. I'm worried about the rest of the team, though. Especially the defense. One more chance to polish things up before facing OSU. It's absolutely imperative to beat OSU to get any national recognition this session. This is the first time since Collaros was injured that my primary concern about the Bearcats (or the Bengals, for that matter) hasn't been the quarterback.

For an NFL stadium pbs does have some awful video boards and the ribbon that gives down and distance is too small and it was off all night long. I think the D will get better.
September 13, 201410 yr The defense really needs some work. I think some of it has to do with the fact that it was Toledo's third game and Cincinnati's first. They looked pretty tired in the third and fourth quarters. Kiel was hitting everyone on the team right between the numbers on almost every throw.
September 25, 201410 yr Such a shame. RIP to the player that was killed today. The town must be cursed. Something bad happens always before a big game starts. And this time a life is lost.
September 26, 201410 yr Good design on that poster. One problem though... you only see the "Hell is Real" sign going south on I-71. Nice try though, Buckeyes.
September 26, 201410 yr That's a nice graphic, though the angle of the sun on the sign and the angle of the sun on the bus (as indicated by shadows) are inconsistent.

September 26, 201410 yr Yeah that is awful news hearing about that kid. Can't imagine how the parents and family are getting by.
September 26, 201410 yr Riding a motorcycle in interior Cincinnati is very dangerous. I usually tried to get out of town as quickly as possible. Too many ways for cagers to make mistakes with all the constant lane changes required in town.
September 26, 201410 yr Riding a motorcycle is very dangerous, period. I've taken the same approach with motorcycles that I have with hard drugs...... I'm sure it's a blast, but no thanks.
September 27, 201410 yr I was pessimistic about this game before the death of Kennedy-Palmore. Now I will be surprised if the score is even close. It's a shame these teams couldn't face each other in a year when both are stronger.
September 27, 201410 yr I was pessimistic about this game before the death of Kennedy-Palmore. Now I will be surprised if the score is even close. It's a shame these teams couldn't face each other in a year when both are stronger. It's tough to tell whether a situation like that helps or hurts morale. Everyone's saddened by it, but there's also an emotional backing to play that much harder in memory of the deceased. Win the game because that's what he would have wanted to see. Manti Te'o had his grandmother and girlfriend (who he didn't know was fake at the time, I think) pass away and had one of the best games of his career a few days after. I agree it's a shame this game wasn't played in 2009 or 2010 though. Of course, OSU would have had to vacate if they won if they would have played in 2010 anyways. I suppose OSU can still say they haven't lost to an Ohio team since whenever, since they just vacated their wins in 2010 instead of forfeiting. There should be an asterisk whenever that stat pops up.
September 28, 201410 yr Even though I'm a UC fan, this is an incredible poster for the game. This is their drive back.
September 28, 201410 yr I just made this Clearly not the top one ;). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 14, 201410 yr Oh god, my heart is still recovering from that game last night. At least we have one quality win for the season (against a team that was ranked...at one time...lol).
November 14, 201410 yr I was down at The Banks after the game last night and hardly anyone was there. The crowd must have been tiny because there was no noteworthy surge of traffic.
November 14, 201410 yr My brother sent me a picture from the game and I commented that it looked like the seats were empty. But he said it was halftime, so I guess many people were up. Regardless, I would have expected a bigger crowd given they were playing the widely-considered top team in the conference
November 14, 201410 yr I was at the game, it was not very crowded, there were maybe 20,000 people or so in attendance. There were basically no students there, which is the side effect of having to play at Paul Brown on a weeknight. I imagine the majority of people there had to work in the morning, and just went home after the game. It also didn't help that it was 27 degrees with a windchill of 19, either. I wasn't quite used to cold weather yet (I am now) and was freezing the whole game, despite being in (5) layers. The wind was brutal to extremities. That said, going for it on 4th, on your own 30, with a couple minutes left is a video game play. Who does that? Though in hindsight it might be the reason we won the game - our defense was awful, and a punt would have just meant ECU burned off more time before scoring to go up, which would have left UC without any time to get into field goal range.
November 14, 201410 yr I was down there no more than 30 minutes after the game was over and they had already turned out the big lights at PBS. After Bengals games they keep them on much longer, presumably for crews to clean the garbage and blood off the upper deck.

Though in hindsight it might be the reason we won the game - our defense was awful, and a punt would have just meant ECU burned off more time before scoring to go up, which would have left UC without any time to get into field goal range. Hmm, I didn't think of that. Good point. A lot of things had to go right that did (e.g. what if ECU had kicked for 1 instead of going for and missing those two 2-pt. conversions). Just enough went right to offset a whole lot that went wrong (5 turnovers?!). But how about that clutch kick by Gantz? That could have been 95% less true and still made it through the uprights.
November 23, 201410 yr It's hard to believe that UConn team just beat UCF a few weeks ago. UC just blanked them, 41-0. The announcer said it's the first time they were shutout at home since 1978. None of their other games this season were so uncompetitive. Unfortunately, USF lost to Memphis. Who does Memphis face next week for their final game? UConn! Unless the UConn that faced UCF shows up next week and pulls off another major upset, UC will lose the head-to-head stats to Memphis for the top of the conference. As UC has had a five-game winning streak (including the big win versus ECU), I am left wondering if we didn't just get unlucky facing Memphis early in the season, as our first conference game, before hitting our stride. Memphis is probably also asking themselves that and feeling pretty lucky. Boy, does the AAC need a championship game. But you know what? So does the Big XII! Come on, fellas.

Memphis has to be kicking themselves. They would have an avenue to the Peach Bowl if they would have beat UCLA, they lost 42-35. FWIW if UC and Memphis wins out it is a split title. Both UC and Memphis look really good right now. Memphis coach is going to get offers....maybe Kansas. I would stay put for now.
December 8, 201410 yr So UC split the conference title with Memphis and will play in the Military Bowl. Aside from that, speculation is brewing about the Big 12 expanding, with UC being one of the obvious choices should they choose to do so. The consensus seems to be the lack of a conference championship game is the only reason TCU and Baylor were leapfrogged by OSU to get the final playoff spot, but the NCAA won't let a conference with fewer than 12 teams have a conference championship game, and the Big 12 only has 10 teams. Cincinnati, ECU, Memphis make sense to spread the conference out closer to WVU, and potentially make east and west divisions. BYU and Boise State would also be candidates. I wonder if Tuberville made any friends in the Big 12 leadership while at Texas Tech?
December 9, 201410 yr According to this, Cincy is in the top 25 of CFB television ratings (its dated from 2011 - but I think is relevant). http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2012/08/college-footballs-top-25-highest-rated-markets-birmingham-oklahoma-city-columbus-top-three-in-2011/ My gut is that while OSU has a following down here, they do not dominate the television ratings as much as the other 2 C's and Dayton. Notre Dame and the SEC has inroads here. On paper, it makes sense for the BIG 12 to want this market. I wonder how well the BIG12 ratings are when the games are carried on Fox Sports 1?
December 9, 201410 yr Big 12 Officials Met with Cincinnati This is good news, and it seems that this is something more than a rumor.
December 9, 201410 yr According to this map, UC isn't even in the top 3 most popular teams in a single zip code (based on Facebook likes). Not even in 45220, 45219, or other zips around campus. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/03/upshot/ncaa-football-map.html I simply do not believe this. Their data is messed up.
December 9, 201410 yr The NYT articles says 38 teams 'likes' were used ---- it could be that Cincy was not one of them Check this out: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/11/11/facebook-fandom-map-suggests-college-football-is-a-bigger-deal-in-virginia-than-maryland/

It is a great market for college football and basketball. UC/Houston had a rating of 1.1, and TCU/Kstate 1.4 on Saturday. The CCGs, SEC, Pac 12, Big Ten were rated much higher, another reason Big 12 should expand, do a CCG. Hell they get 30 Million or more for a CCG.
