September 13, 200915 yr Nice to see that UC has blown the doors off their fist 2 opponents. They'll beat the Beavers next week to move to 3-0. Go Bearcats
September 13, 200915 yr Up to #17 in the AP. I think that Ohio's best college football team is in Cincinnati again this year. Unless the Bearcats blow it, they should go undefeated. Rutgers was "the team to beat in the Big East," according to ESPN.
September 16, 200915 yr I have an extra ticket to the Fresno St. game. If you wanna go message me. I've never been to a UC game, I've actually never even been to the campus, so I'm pumped up for this.
September 16, 200915 yr You should try and go to the West Virginia game later in the season. That one is always exciting. Fresno St. is at noon and not broadcast nationally.. the atmosphere at night and when ESPN is there is amazing.
September 16, 200915 yr I'm gonna try and go to all the home games left in the season. That all depends on my schedule and money situation of course.
September 17, 200915 yr ESPN reported tonight that Tony Pike is currently #4 in the early Heisman standings.
September 18, 200915 yr ESPN reported tonight that Tony Pike is currently #4 in the early Heisman standings. Nice, as he should be.
September 20, 200915 yr Bearcats win a big road game against Pac-10 Oregon State who was looking for redemption from last year's throttling in Cincinnati. The extra energy obviously wasn't enough as the Bearcats defense more than held their own against the Rogers brothers. ESPN's Brian Bennett says the following after the impressive road win, "Cincinnati needs to be taken very, very seriously...and is worthy of top 10 consideration." Fresno State is next and the UC athletic department is reporting that the Fresno State, Louisville, and West Virginia games are all very close to selling out. Get your tickets now...I'll be grabbing mine for the Louisville and Illinois games soon.
September 20, 200915 yr Also there is no more making fun of the Big East. With no embarrassing loses yet this year, a constant display of taking care of business, and big wins against other BCS schools should be getting the conference a little more respect. This week UConn beat the Big XII's Baylor, Syracuse beat the Big Ten's Northwestern, UC beat the Pac10's Oregon State, Louisville lost a close one to the SEC's Kentucky, and West Virginia beat themselves late in the game against the SEC's Auburn.
September 20, 200915 yr Pike should also be holding steady in the Heisman standings after another 300+ yard passing performance where his control of the offense appeared masterful at times. His accuracy on the deep ball is also very impressive. Against Oregon State he also threw for 2 TDs and ran for another. Pike also had a couple of very important scrambles for first downs to extend drives. Oh yeah, and he has a 165.03 QB rating so far through three games, nearly a 1,000 yards passing and 9 TDs in nine quarters of play.
September 20, 200915 yr It's getting really hard to NOT be excited about Bearcat Football anymore. I love it.
September 20, 200915 yr I would love to see them go to the championship but until then i'll keep wishing that Tebow will get knocked out.
September 21, 200915 yr How are the Kelce brothers (Jason and Travis) performing for the Bearcats? That is a good question. I forgot there were CH players on the team. I would be interested to know as well.
September 21, 200915 yr I believe one of the brothers was used in the Wildcat offense formation and scored a couple touchdowns in week one against Rutgers.
September 21, 200915 yr How are the Kelce brothers (Jason and Travis) performing for the Bearcats? That is a good question. I forgot there were CH players on the team. I would be interested to know as well. I know that the older brother (Jason) starts at guard. Travis, I believe, is a backup QB.... pretty athletic kid with great size so being used in the Wildcat does not surprise me at all.
September 22, 200915 yr I need tailgating advice. I will be taking a large group to a game this year and need to know a good spot for 25 people to party. What is the best lot for location/price?
September 22, 200915 yr I'm really glad the Bearcats are having so much success, but I wish they would have scheduled a few tough teams so we could see if this team is really legit or not. Oregon State is on the middle to lower end of the PAC-10, and the Big East currently doesn't have anyone in the top 25. So even if UC goes undefeated, how could you make a case for a title game appearence when they will have played 0 games against ranked opponents, while SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, and Big 10 schools beat each other up playing multiple top 25 opponents? (I know we are getting wayyy ahead of ourselves, but still a legit concern.)
September 22, 200915 yr ^Teams usually schedule non-conference opponents two or more years in advance. We're not playing weak, C-USA teams anymore. In the next two to three seasons, we'll be playing OSU and other stronger opponents. Our games against Fresno State at home, Pittsburgh away, and WVU at home will help our chances to reach a title game. I predict that Pittsburgh will be ranked in the next couple weeks. South Florida has at least gotten a couple votes for the Top 25, since the season started, and we're playing them away. Both Pitt and USF are undefeated. Though they're not ranked (yet), it helps that they're holding a strong record.
September 22, 200915 yr It is going to take some time and a bigger stadium (or a greater willingness to play big games @ PBS). It would be nice to see UC start a series or two with some SEC teams.
September 22, 200915 yr I don't think it would be smart for UC to shell out for a new stadium. Cincinnati fans are fairweather. Build for 50K capacity, and a bad season will look even worse.
September 22, 200915 yr Agreed... Nippert is a great stadium for small games (I can't remember where I read it, but it's been described as the "Wrigley Field of college football"), and Paul Brown Stadium is there for the big games. They've already got the best of both worlds at hand.
September 22, 200915 yr I don't like when the games are at PBS (Oklahoma next year is at PBS). Even with a larger crowd it doesn't seem to get as loud as Nippert. Nippert can be a tough place to play.

Nippert can be a tough place to play. The finances don't work either, and from my understanding that's the university's main concern - why move it off campus away from the great Nippert Stadium if you're not even going to come out ahead? If it's needed to land a home game against Oklahoma (next season) then I'm sure they'll do it, but other than that..eh.

(I know we are getting wayyy ahead of ourselves, but still a legit concern.) Fresno State and Oregon State are both quality non-conference opponents, and we also have Illinois later in the year. Oregon State was ranked #24 when we played them and Pittsburgh, WVU, and SF could all be ranked when we play them later this year as well. In order to get to the title game we have to run the table and hope for Texas, Penn State and some others to lose. The only reason college football experts are having this discussion right now is because Oklahoma, Ohio State and USC have all lost. There is no way the SEC will fill both spots and the ACC is a conference of parody where no one will come out unscathed.
September 23, 200915 yr Does anyone have any tickets for this weekends game that they dont want. If so, please private post me, with a price. Thanks
September 23, 200915 yr if you need a shirt to wear to the Bearcats game you can go down to Market Wines in Findlay Market to get one of these in either a men's or women's cut:
September 24, 200915 yr So nobody besides Sheady wants to go to the game? I still have one extra ticket.
September 24, 200915 yr Is it a student guest ticket, by chance? No, its for Sec. 121 Row 21 Seat 7 or 8. The reason I have an extra for is because the person that was supposed to go with me pulled out. I'm not selling. If you wanna go you can just have it.
September 24, 200915 yr Section 205 Row 20 Seats 8-9. $44 total. Awesome promotion. I was waiting to hear about about a co-op. Meanwhile, student and student guest tickets sold out. Glad I was about to score these. The system tried to cram me over in the corner of the endzone in 127, facing 131 of the Bearcat Lair. I just put 8 tickets in the cart until the 205 tickets came up. I'd rather be in the upper level near the 50 yard line. Absolutely.

My girlfriend's coming too, so I needed to get a pair.
September 25, 200915 yr Looks like I accidentally bought FOUR tickets to the game, instead of TWO. I've got Section 205 Row 20 Seats 8-9 for $22 each or $44 for the pair. Takers?
September 25, 200915 yr Looks like it may storm for the game.. I'll be watching in Catskeller.. the bar in TUC right next to the stadium if anyone seeks some shelter. The place gets packed though..
September 25, 200915 yr So I've been trying to sell my 2 tickets for two days now. I guess people aren't biting because it's going to rain. I hope people actually show up for the game. Otherwise, it'll say something about our fanbase.
September 26, 200915 yr Fresno St. played a heck of a game. Just glad that the Bearcats were able to pull out a victory.
September 27, 200915 yr I think ESPN's Brian Bennett put it best: "One way to try and beat Cincinnati could be to run the ball as much as possible, control the clock and keep Tony Pike and Co. on the sidelines. Of course, Fresno State did that with the nation's leading rusher (Ryan Mathews) and still couldn't win. So good luck with that."
September 27, 200915 yr I need tailgating advice. I will be taking a large group to a game this year and need to know a good spot for 25 people to party. What is the best lot for location/price? Looking for some recommendations as well. Got six going to the UL game and we'll be taking the Streetcar, er Metro, from downtown to uptown. We won't have a vehicle to tailgate at and with the Calhoun bar scene long gone, I'm looking for a pre-game bar that has some good beers on tap. Go Cats! "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
September 27, 200915 yr Looks like the Catskeller has been remodeled since I was last there! Getting some good reviews... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17749/?view=beerfly "It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton
September 27, 200915 yr Catskeller is pretty cool and has a nice beer selection. Plus it's right next to the stadium. Mac's up on McMillan is also a great spot. You also have Christy's on McMillan as well with their large outdoor area complete with bocci ball.
September 27, 200915 yr I'm always in Catskller before the games, playing darts for awhile. They have an amazing micro/craft and imported beer selection, with something different always on tap. Plus the prices are cheaper for an imported Belgian pint than for a pint of Miller Lite in the stadium! During halftime the place is packed. If it rains or gets cold its also packed. Get there early and grab a dart board, couch, or bar stool.
September 27, 200915 yr Do you mean that The Pickle Barrel or Shipleys is no longer there? I guess I'll have to go down to Reflections for their $1.25 pitchers of 3.2 Hudy!
