after a monsoon rain all day last saturday i couldn’t wait to get outside. so i took the camera on an errand sunday, which turned out to be sunny and nice (quite a contrast to the major blizzard in ohio!).

this is up and down lower 9th avenue in manhattan between 14th and 23rd streets:

I guess it's just personal taste for me.

The Porter House is God awful.

But great thread :).

yeah, unified awnings are cool

Fascinating place!

I sort of liked the Porter House projects.  I have no idea what they looked like on the inside, but the building itself looked well constructed.  Certainly has a staid quality to it, but it isn't trying to show off, or ape anything either.

Hey, mrnyc, can you get some shots of the hot pink palazzo on West 11th Street next time you're in the neighborhood?

Nice set.

Nice shots!  Nothing like walking around downtown on a sunny day- like today in fact!

And I love the bike lane (thank you commissioner Sadik-Khan!).  I really hope the city has the guts to put them on streets with significant traffic someday.  Not holding my breath though.

^Or make the roads bike roads and put a car lane on the side.

Thanks.  Sorry it took so long for me to respond, it's my first time back to the internet since the 15th of March.

Damn bikers.. they're more dangerous than the cabs when walking.  Everyday on my walk to work I nearly get hit by a courier.  They'll just run through intersections, not paying attention to the crosswalk signals.  Not that cabs ever do that....

Welcome to NYC!  Just give one a "clothes hanger".  It's mean, but it will make you feel better.

Poorly, haha.  Still staying out on Long Island.  Avoiding moving in with complete randoms and trying to at least find friend of a friend.

Looks great...and the dedicated bike lanes are terrific.

Haha yeah "dedicated" until they are constructed.  I've seen cabbies pass other cabs with 2 wheels on the curb.

This is where I stayed when I was in New York last summer!  My friend has a 1 bedroom apartment in this building.  The interior court yard is sooooo beautiful.  Such a relaxing retreat from the hustle & bustle of Manhattan.  I think I'll be visiting him again at the end of June for Pride weekend.  Can't wait to be back! :)
