hey again everyone!!!  So moving day is fast approaching... just a week away.  I have a quick question tho- I am going to be living near Lake/Edgewater near 117th and two nights a week I will not get home from work until 12am... how safe is that neighborhood if I have to walk a couple of blocks at that time of night???  thanks.

When I lived in that area I was waiting tables I regularly didn't get home until at least midnight. The biggest problem was finding street parking at tha time of night, which is what necessitated all the long walks to my building.  At that time, it was certainly fine to walk home, there was rarely anyone out except other service job people coming home.  But that was 15 years ago, so others who live there now or more recently may want to weigh in.

I live around the corner on Clifton and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night.  But if you live on Edgewater, rnr is right, you will have a very rough time finding street parking.  It's always difficult over there, but darn near impossible late at night.  Be prepared to have to park far away.

Thanks you guys.  I dont mind walking to my apartment at night.  Just wanted to make sure I would be safe.

Welcome to the neighborhood, hayzell. If you'd like to meet some of the neighborhood residents to make you feel more at home, let me know and I'll set something up over coffee, lunch, dinner, drinks etc. Let's make it fun -- and invite anyone else who just moved to the Gold Coast/Edgewater area!
