I have no idea what happened here. I just thought it interesting that immediately on the heels of the discovery of several cars in a retention pond in Indianapolis and one or two incidents here that revived memories of some fatal incidents in the past, this happened in my neighborhood.

A year ago, this car simply would have gotten stuck in the mud; the pond had silted full and mostly dried up years ago. Last year, though, the park department did a major reconstruction, taking the pond to eight feet deep and restoring the overflow drain and fresh-water supply.

On Saturday morning (March 22, 2008) I noticed police cars around the east end of the St. Marys River Bridge on West Jefferson. I wasn't inclined to go out in the unpleasant weather to check it out. They were there quite a while.

Some time later I saw the flasher atop a tow truck, near the underpass that connects the tennis courts with East Swinney Park. Curiosity got the better of me.

hummm.....Rob, this all sounds suspicious.

Wow, they really went a long way through the park

Must have been an interesting ride.  :-o

After getting a new car, what red blooded American male doesn't get the urge fire up the engine, put the pedal to the metal, and drive it into a lake to see what happens?
