March 15, 200817 yr Maybe some carry out/delivery pizza specials or something would be nice. Since Pizza and Calzone Co. closed we really have nothing in the flats. They offer 2 pizzas for $20 for delivery or pickup. Some of the pizzas are less than $10 though so not sure what the "special" part of that is. Also, Pizza and Calzone company will be re-opening shortly, further down on columbus rd. Oddly, I overheard the owner and the Sunoco station owner chatting while I was inside the Sunoco station. They expect to be open in 4 weeks or so and will have a dining area in addition to their pick-up/delivery service. I loved their food, so I'm exicted about that.
March 15, 200817 yr The owner said they will also have a liquor licence. They are supposed to open in that 2 story brick building just before the Columbus rd bridge. The problem is I have seen NO activity at all. When they closed at the other location they said it would only be for about 3 weeks...that was early/mid Jan. I miss it.
March 15, 200817 yr I'm glad you mentioned this place on Cols Rd, I see it from my train and have been wondering about it.
March 15, 200817 yr I just got done eating some delivery food from 20/20. I have to say, I was very pleased. I had a pizza and thought it was good and my girlfriend had a grilled herb chicken which was excellent - good enough to make a point to get it again. It also came with a vegetable medly that was really good too (and some mashed potatoes). I think you just need to understand what the place is and what it isn't. It is an upscale jazz lounge with some good bands that happens to have good food - and drink prices in line with what you would expect at a concert type venue. If you live in the area, it's a good option for a delivery or take out that's a few steps above your standard chinese or italian take out. It's not a restaurant or neighborhood bar. So as long as you go there without those expectations, I think you will walk away feeling good about your experience.
March 16, 200817 yr "I think you just need to understand what the place is and what it isn't" Not sure of you are speaking about me,but as of at least March 6 (date of a recent post) were you not confused too? It is heard not to be. I guess I have been mourning the concept of what was promoted since the Cantina was acquired to the opening of 2020-- it would be a space for a casual bistro/grocery/wine bar. I believe a quote was "the kind of space you may go 4-5 days a week". It obviously is not that-but we'll get over it. As I posted this AM, It is easier to see what they are trying to do when the service is better and there is entertainment. I presume they are not going to have entertainment every second they are open and will want local crowd to fill out the business. These people are not likely to sit around and drink $6 beers. As I mentioned before, if it turns out to be a night club or jazz club for "tourists" on the town for drinks, than so be it. We are used to that in the Flats. However these places do not get locals. It would be shame if there was too much focus on the club aspect, since the food is shaping up to be good. Even though I was there during prime dinner hour the last night, not many people were eating. I guess occasional takeout it a good way to support them w/o the silly (non entertainment time) drink prices.
March 16, 200817 yr ^Is the Flat Iron too far away to be considered a neighborhood establishment? It is almost as if this place is being treated as the first place to open in the immediate vecinity.
March 16, 200817 yr Yeah 10% off isnt much of a happy hour You guys are lucky, drink prices are such a steal in Cleveland. I miss happy hour :-(...it's illegal in Illinois. Somewhere in Peoria a MADD mother is patting herself on the back.
March 16, 200817 yr ^Is the Flat Iron too far away to be considered a neighborhood establishment? It is almost as if this place is being treated as the first place to open in the immediate vecinity. oh it is, and it is utilized. No crime in having a few more places though. It does not have the most innovative offerings, but the atmosphere and service are always good.
March 17, 200817 yr 2020 update. Things could only get better, and they have. We went after work Friday (I would guess about 6ish?) There was a jazz band playing and the place was buzzing. I thought I sensed your presence!!! I was visiting my daughter, and she mentioned 20/20. Her and BF had gone once, and similarly to others, it was not a good experience. Seems like it took forever to get service, while others around them seemed to have staff all over them as if they were all close friends. Anyway, she had pizza delivered and just loved it. We went about 7pm, jazz band was taking a break. We sat in a booth in the coffee shop area. Had a couple of beers which were ok. Attention was questionable, and again, we noticed that others were getting much better service. After about 20 minutes we finally got our beers and ordered dinner. Her friend ordered the salmon, we ordered 2 pizzas. 20 minutes later, he was served his salmon, and the waiter apologized for the pizzas not being ready, but they would be out any minute. Finally, about 15 minutes later, as he finished his salmon, the waiter brought out our pizzas and we asked him to just box them up for us. We asked to see the manager, and my daughter told him about her past experiences and how she wanted to continue to patronize them. He apologized profusely and took another 10% off the bill (residents get an automatic 10% discount). The jazz band was very good.
April 3, 200817 yr Anyone been to 20/20 recently? I wonder if it has gotten any better. Someone please quote my previous post so even those who ignore me may input!!

April 3, 200817 yr i had a friend who went there last weekend, and he told me that though it was a tad pricey he thought the place was great and he and his group didn't have any service issues... i personally haven't been there.
April 4, 200817 yr "I think you just need to understand what the place is and what it isn't" Not sure of you are speaking about me,but as of at least March 6 (date of a recent post) were you not confused too? No, I wasn't. I completely agree with what you said. I too was expecting something else (neighborhood bar or new dine-in option) thus the disapointment. I guess what I am saying is if you enter with the expectation of what it is (I would call it an upscale jazz lounge that has food) I think you will enjoy it. I have since utilized the carry out (for beer/wine) and ordered delivery again. Food has been good each time and the convienence of the carry out when I might want to grab something for the night is great.
April 4, 200817 yr I still think the pizza is good, but for serious service reasons I will no longer go into to here (I will take up with management if anything), we have still had problems on 2 subsequent visits. The spouse refuses to ever set foot in there again, so I may not bother.
May 7, 200817 yr I had lunch at 2020 Martini, and echo many of your thoughts. The space and decor was awesome, but the service was pretty atrocious (took more than a half-hour for a wrap and the place wasn't even busy) and the food wasn't that great. Others with me thought the same. I might go there for drinks in the future, but probably not to eat.
May 7, 200817 yr Maybe 2020 should have it's own thread. I know it's "in" the Stonebridge, but like many other places, it should be discussed seperately.
May 7, 200817 yr Has anyone heard any word on when phase 7 will begin? The website states that this will break ground in 2008 and will include 30 townhouses. I know that the housing market is not good right now, but I would think that they would be motivated to move ahead on this project considering the success Zaremba has had with townhouse sales in the Avenue District.
May 8, 200817 yr Has anyone heard any word on when phase 7 will begin? The website states that this will break ground in 2008 and will include 30 townhouses. I know that the housing market is not good right now, but I would think that they would be motivated to move ahead on this project considering the success Zaremba has had with townhouse sales in the Avenue District. The Stonebridge design office has now moved into the upstairs office section of Phase 6 (20/20, etc). they still have their master plan building model on display and it shows the full out development, including a bridge over to Whiskey Island, "something" where FEB is scheduled to go, along with a lakefront development (shown as a park) when the port moves. I know some of that is not their project, but it's a future view of the neighborhood, including phases 7-12 and they are still showing that to potential buyers. However, I've heard from some (realtors, K&D employees - although no one who has any kind of pull) that phase 7 and beyond is on hold for now, that they are going to finish off all of the odds and ends of phase 5/6 before they get started on 7. I don't know if that means waiting until all the units are sold or just finishing landscaping, street work, etc but I wouldn't expect any new ground breaking for another 12-18 months until the current projects are wrapped up.
May 8, 200817 yr ^they are investing a lot of time and money into Euclid Ave right now. I'd expect to see Stonebridge advance once 668 and Ameritrust get some good money-earning momentum.
May 8, 200817 yr ^they are investing a lot of time and money into Euclid Ave right now. I'd expect to see Stonebridge advance once 668 and Ameritrust get some good money-earning momentum. I didn't even consider that, but yeah, there are other priorities right now.
May 8, 200817 yr Thanks, guys! That makes sense. I don't have the insider information that many of you do and have just been curious as to why there has been so much silence on this project.
May 8, 200817 yr Oops! May 8, 200817 yr Yikes! Time for some damage control (literally and figuratively). I can only imagine if that was my unit...our poor dogs would be going nuts!
May 8, 200817 yr Hey look at the bright side. You get you windows washed for spring and the carpet cleaned.
May 8, 200817 yr Hey look at the bright side. You get you windows washed for spring and the carpet cleaned. That is what the "cherry picker" was doing - the building's windows were being cleaned. Now they get to be replaced too!
May 8, 200817 yr Not nearly as bad as I imagined. Guess that says something about my imagination. :-D
May 8, 200817 yr Is this the reason for all the news helicopters in the sky today or was something else happening downtown?
