March 30, 200817 yr Wow! Looks like one of those towns that might have been moderately prosperous eighty years ago and now only has a few old people with old family money, but not much else. Some of those buildings look like they're pre-Civil War. I looked it up on the map, expecting to find it near the Ohio River in the southeastern part of the state, and was surprised that it's not far from Dayton. I wonder if it had its good times during the oil-and-gas boom era.
March 30, 200817 yr AFAIK, Jamestown hasn't had its "good times" in my near 50 year lifetime. Jamestown had several manufacturers in a small industrial park outside of town back in the 70s but industrial space around there is now like a ghost town.
April 1, 200817 yr Another town with family ties for me. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 2, 200817 yr I worked for Ryan Homes in Jamestown a few months back in '73. Stayed with an aunt & uncle, hated it. Saved some money and took off to Colorado for a while.
