A quick look at 4th Quarter 2007 foreclosure activity in Montgomery County, focusing on the suburbs (as we already know Dayton is in trouble) (map from Centerville website)

The county as a whole.  Red = Auction notice, Black = Bank repo,  Yellow = default notices.

Close ups going counterclockwise, with largish clusters circled and labled.

Looking at these, and knowing what’s open country or industrial, one can tell just a few built-up areas that aren’t having concentrations of foreclosure activity, namely “West of Far Hills”, Centerville,  Washington Township,  Miami Township, Kettering south of David, and a lot of Riverside south of the Mad River.

Also, if this was mapped at larger scale, say on a street map, the situation wouldn’t look as dire.  Yet the large scale of the circles on this map makes clustering fairly easy to see.

If you could extend the map just a little further south into Springboro...

Have you heard how foreclosure activity in that area  is going?  Is it simlar to Centerville, or maybe higher due to all the new construction in the area over the past decade?

(as always, great work Jeffrey. I love your detailled posts on the Dayton area.)

Hubertucky lol!

oh geez.  I love how all ohio metros do this.  In Cleveland, I have heard Brunstucky.  In C-Bus, Grovetucky.  Now this.  In Cincy, we simply say, Kentucky.

But you're forgetting in Cincy we are only a short drive from Hamiltucky.

Well, it is the "southern" part of Huber....

Dayton also has "Little Kentucky" (in Fairborn) and "Dogpatch" in Moraine.  Dogpatch is sort of interesting as the oldest houses were self-built from old boxcars, or so its claimed.

Actually this map isnt mine, but from a local govt website.  I just enlarged to to work with it more.  So I couldn't say.  From what I can tell from this map, based on newer developments, it depends on income?  The more affluent newer areas are not seeing much forclosures.

If you want to see more of those check out my blog as I dont post those here too much anymore.
