April 21, 200817 yr My photos of both Chicago and Cleveland always seem to turn out really well. All other cities terrible.
May 9, 200817 yr As far as transportation the Cleveland RTA is the best large transit system in North America, according to the American Public Transportation Association. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2007/09/rta_wins_honor_as_best_big_tra.html
May 10, 200817 yr Cleveland was built with a lot of NYC capital as well, but Chicago was already booming as Cleveland rose. i would argue that in the past clevelanders had far, far more influence on nyc than vice versa (rock center anyone?, moma? the un?). even today for example outside of football it's almost impossible to name a major nyc sports team w/o a strong cleveland tie (the dolans & msg, steinbrenner & the yanks, ratner & the nets, waaa!). as anywhere & although not major businesses in a sense, sports have some very strong media resonance in nyc. so whats the prominent nyc connection to the cleve today? some tc chase bank offices & branches? bah!
May 10, 200817 yr Welcome aboard, Ctownrocks1. But please don't use that "best public transit system" award! It's a pretty hollow award, especially compared to a system like Chicago's. :) "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 10, 200817 yr I dont think you ever posted the cincinnati pics did you? Actually, my recent ones came out clear. I suppose that warrants a photo thread. and also the weather on my recent visits to the Chi have been so-so. Typically they are usually sunny. But Cleveland has never let me down so far.
May 11, 200817 yr I lived in Toledo for a few years and I generally agree, though spring in Toledo lags behind the Ohio Valley in my experience by anywhere from a couple weeks to a full month. The longer winter/shorter spring is what makes the Great Lakes more depressing than Ohio Valley.
May 11, 200817 yr Why is Cleveland's winter the worst? We get the most snow among the state's largest cities. The rest of you get shortchanged. But for average temperatures, check NOAA climatology data and I think you'll find that Toledo, Detroit and Chicago are colder than Cleveland or Buffalo.
