May 30, 200817 yr Build upscale communities near freeways and fortune 500 companies are all over your nuts.
May 30, 200817 yr Ya know, it kind of boggles my mind how somebody from the city isn't trying to court these guys into downtown unless all of GE hierarchy live out that way and are just trying to save themselves on the gas situation. A different article said something about this being Engineering and other office type positions. No manufacturing. I don't know, maybe a 5th & Race candidate!!

May 31, 200817 yr Nothing like giving a tax break to a company that is just moving jobs around the metro. better than leaving the metro for greener pastures...or is it? which would you prefer?
May 31, 200817 yr Just an aside.. GE is moving a bunch of good jobs from Louisville to the light bulb research hq in Cleveland.
May 31, 200817 yr These jobs aren't leaving the region. The whole reason they are here is the gigantic aircraft engine factory that is one of the premier manufacturing sites in the country.
May 31, 200817 yr GE won't be here long because there will be no more airlines or start up airlines to buy engines.
May 31, 200817 yr ^ I think there will still be airplanes and airlines for a long time. The business models are just going to change.
May 31, 200817 yr The US Air Force isn't going to stop flying and neither is UPS. The question is how will regular airlines respond. They have only just begun to squeeze fuel efficiency out of aircraft engines in a way that could be useful in a higher fuel environment.
