Posted April 23, 200817 yr Greetings, all. I took a bike tour from Steelyard Commons to the Tower City Amphitheater, and took these shots along the way. Hope you enjoy them! ---
April 23, 200817 yr Damn! Those are outstanding! I think that's the best set of Cleveland grit I've seen.
April 23, 200817 yr I love the rugged, industrial side of Cleveland. While I certainly wouldn't want to be caught in those places after dark, it makes for great photos. I can almost hear the old ghosts of industry..
April 23, 200817 yr ^Ditto. Best of a fantastic set. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 23, 200817 yr :-o Wow... amazing photos!! I LOVE this setting and you captured it so well. ^^Absolutely amazing.
April 23, 200817 yr Definitely amazing! And I too love, love love that one^! IMHO this area deserves some seriously enlightened planning attention to make sure the rest of all that cool industrial heritage isn't neglected to death or flattened by Forest City et al. This landscape is one of Cleveland's best resources and it keeps me up at night worried!
April 23, 200817 yr yes I know I have a screw loose, but I find the flats as beautiful as it is haunting. thanks for these.
April 23, 200817 yr We both must have screws loose then, because that's exactly what I think from just looking at all of these photos.
April 24, 200817 yr Cleveland is a "Rust Belt Lover's Paradise"! This pictures are sexy as hell! If Cleveland was a woman I'd marry her. That should tell you all what type of woman I like.
April 24, 200817 yr Thanks for all the comments! You can bet that I'll have more Cleveland industry photos soon.
April 24, 200817 yr If only the railroad tracks were the river and these old beauts were renovated into residential with a boardwalk. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
April 28, 200817 yr OK, then I'll take the bait. Those tracks are the future route of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad so its trains can get to the riverside level of Tower City Center from Akron and Canton. A few other gems that may have been missed in these grit-tastic pics... At the right side of this picture is the lone stone support for the old Central Viaduct, which connected Central Avenue with West 14th in Tremont until the 1930s. The eastern abutment of the viaduct can be seen at the upper left. The big building next to it was the Broadway Mills, built in the 1880s. It is slated to be torn down by the ODOT for the new Innerbelt Bridge... The long stone wall visible in this picture is all that remains of Wheeling & Lake Erie's access route to its former Ontario Street station until 1925, and after 1930 its route into Cleveland Union Terminal (today's Tower City Center). The W&LE tracks were just above and supported by the stone retaining wall...
