kind of a ne suburb of austin. pop is 15k. it's a main street/ main interection old railroad town of the typical texas immigrants from czechoslovakia, austria and germany. know as the home of the first savings and loan in texas.

taylor's most famous resident was bill pickett, the african-american rodeo cowboy who invented "bulldogging," which is grabbing the steer by the horns and wrestling it to the ground. this is still popular at rodeos today, although his special technique fell out of favor (biting the cow on the lip!).

*** so there's taylor, texas this past monday....i had to eat it and beat it!  ***

Seems to be a depressed area.  I really need to go to Texas (among other places) sometime soon.

^This reminds me of main street in Chillicothe a little bit.

This town fascinates me to no end. I'd love to visit an old southwestern town like this.  Awesome place!!

And I love how that little barber shop is dwarfed by the building next to it.

Every time I see a picture of Texas I sweat.  Having passed through it many times, the only thing that stands out in my mind is the unbearable heat.  Taylor looks pretty good, though.  But hot.

Thanks!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing!

Some interesting buildings, lots of character. Looks like way too much excitement for me, though.

^ rob, eating texas bbq was plenty of excitement for my cholesterol & the 'ol ticker.  :-P
