Call me crazy, but I really liked Woodsfield...great courthouse, K-Mart parking lot streetscaping plan, cool old theatre, the Wooden Shoe, decent activity...

Notice the circular pavement patch in the middle of the intersection:

Woodsfield lost a very special downtown asset since Summt Street visited, his image says it best:

A really nice courthouse! I really don't like the "crane" street lights, though. I prefer either historical-reproductions or the low-profile lights that you see at... malls.

Not a beauty queen, but not the ugliest girl at the dance either.  Like Siecer says, the lights are detract quite a bit.  Looks like an airport parking lot lighting scheme.

Why don't they just ask us first?????

i love it

The center square kind of reminds me of Sunbury, PA without railroad tracks.

Sweet little town.

Nice. I've been meaning to get there.

Michigan's Monroe County seat is better (except for the courthouse)

Monroe County is a very special place. It is very remote by Ohio standards, rugged as all get-out, extremely scenic and doesn't get wrapped up in a lot of crap that the rest of the country does.

edit: meant to type "country" instead of "county" in the second sentence.

Nice shots!

I love that area. A friend used to own a place on the Ohio side of the river down near the Sistersville Ferry, and I drove through Woodsfield and Barnesville and various small villages fairly often going there. You can't be in a hurry on that drive.

The Monroe County Fair at Woodsfield was a big area attraction back then.
