April 29, 200817 yr At least the guy on the right knows where to go for real parties. (Notice the "4 Kegs" pitcher he clenches in his left hand.)
April 29, 200817 yr This might be the most douche-baggy post I've ever read on the the internets...and that is saying something. :-P
April 29, 200817 yr This might be the most douche-baggy post I've ever read on the the internets...and that is saying something. :-P LOL...I was thinking Douche-a-palooza, but we're on the same wavelength. Note to self: My kids are never going to OU.
April 29, 200817 yr Yeah I'm in college now and this doesnt even really look too appealing. I would never go to OU just because there is nothing around it. What do you do when you get sick of drinking and going to house parties with gross people? nothing... And I think these pictures are more for sharing on facebook than UrbanOhio. Then again, nothing says cool like recounting the massive amounts of beer drank and weed smoked on an internet forum...
April 29, 200817 yr Literally pissing away the parents' tuition money. This makes me glad that I've always remained true to my inner nerd.
April 29, 200817 yr Wow - drinking, getting high, and hooking up in public is so cool. I have never been to or heard about any other college in America where this behavior occurs, but sharing collegiate escapades on a public forum is probably not a good idea.
April 30, 200817 yr I have never been to or heard about any other college in America where this behavior occurs ^ I apologize, this was a bit of sarcasm - I think this is pretty consistent behavior at any school, at least when I was in college. I was pointing out that you can find this activity at most schools.
April 30, 200817 yr This sort of reminds me of the "The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test", where there is some good discussion of the Perry Lane scene just off the Stanford campu is Palo Alto, where Ken Kesey and other hung out...sort of a grad student + hangers on neighborhood. Then there was the "student ghetto" next to UofK, roughtly the area along Rose Street northward, on either side of Euclid, probably as far east as High and downtown. Transylvania Park was the place to live there, sharing a house with other students. So there was this big house party scene going on, but also block partys on the tree lined streets, and Earth Day in nearby Woodland Park. Yet, I dont think the block partys were as big as this, and they were at dusk & into the night usually. This was years ago, back in the 1970s afterglow of the counterculture. UofK has probably become a lot more preppy since then (though preps where part of the house party/block party scene as much as the freaks). This is all child's play, really (c'mon, weed and beer- middle schoolers do it). Back in the olden days it wasn't such a big deal, from what I recall. Weed & Beer (and some hash) was what people did, esp weed as it was a local crop...KY used to have this backwoods hippie/homegrown thing going on.
April 30, 200817 yr I'll venture to say that 80% of the people in these photos have one or more of the following posters hanging in their room: 1. 2. 3.
April 30, 200817 yr I'll venture to say that 80% of the people in these photos have one or more of the following posters hanging in their room: lol ... Very true
April 30, 200817 yr Atleast the guys are cute! LOL But seriously, I think this belongs in the General Photos section. As far as the content goes, far be it for me to judge. I can remember going to Chitfest on campus and getting sh!t faced with friends from OSU. Ahhh those were the days!!!! LOL CUTE? Cute where? Those pictures just show a bunch of drunk pigs and the below picture screams under age drinking! Cute! Puuh-leease!
April 30, 200817 yr Remind me never to send my sons and daughters to OU. HA HA. Seriously though, this does not look like fun at all. I see a bunch of people who probably haven't showered in two days, have terrible breath, smokmed ten packs of ciggerettes and are walking across urine and beer. And then to think, guys and girls will be hooking up while they are stinky as hell. Very gross! Oh well, this is what OU is known for. Stuck in the middle af Appalacia with nothing around it but a strip of bars. I would much prefer Cleveland State or UC, but that's just me.
April 30, 200817 yr So am I to assume then that the plaid short has taken over for the 'striped shirt' as the preferred summertime uniform of the young, drunk and self-important? for the ultimate in waspy country club style, try the striped shirt and plaid short combo!

Thank God you people can't get into SHCC or Canterbury!

Thank God you people can't get into SHCC or Canterbury! Hey, I'm Jewish, the stripes and plaid thing is something pioneered by the 'G's. And what do you mean by 'you people' ;-)

April 30, 200817 yr "you people" with bad fashion sense! and don't throw the Jew card at me, I'm probably a bigger Jew than you are, at least according to my parents neighbors! LOL! You're probably right. I converted anyway. And we have cards? Why was I not informed of this? I wonder what the Moshe Dayan rookie card is worth?

April 30, 200817 yr I'll venture to say that 80% of the people in these photos have one or more of the following posters hanging in their room: 1. 2. 3. AHAHAHAHA, purchased at the school bookstore poster fair, no doubt!
April 30, 200817 yr ^The first two hung in my freshman dorm room, but that was my roomate's doing. I haven't seen this many plaid shorts, in one spot, in my life. Just come up to Oxford.
April 30, 200817 yr ^The first two hung in my freshman dorm room, but that was my roomate's doing. Wow, you're room mate really had style! If I had a roommate like that, I would have put him out!

And then to think, guys and girls will be hooking up while they are stinky as hell. Very gross! I feel like taking a shower.
April 30, 200817 yr C-Dawg, I can respect your school spirit, but give this outlook on life 10 or so years (and that will come a lot quicker than you think). At that time, you will look back on these pictures and just laugh. The party life is fun and great, but these pictures really do not portray career or family or mature advancement. I will admit, back when I was graduating from college, I was depressed to leave. But now going back, it is not nearly the same. The people in the bars really are just kids having a good time, and my wife and I are like old people. The bars never change either because the demographic dosen't. Also, we walk in these bar/restaurants at 5 in the evening with our kids and it is amazing how dirty they look whn no one is in there. Never noticed that when I was younger. Oh well, there is a time and place for everything. Nice that you are having a good time with college and no reason you shouldn't be. It really is the most "free" years of your life. Enjoy it now, because you are there to create a career for yourself which is what you will begin after college. that career probably will not allow for much more of this "fun stuff".
April 30, 200817 yr Sorry. When I saw people drinking Natural Light and Busch... I couldnt take it seriously. Then came the pictures of the Frat Boys. Honestly, if you want to drink good beer and get drunk, trying going to a good liquor store and buying a Belgian Tripel or Quadruppel. Generally 7-10%+ ABV and probably the best beer you'll drink in your entire life. You dont need to drink 30 to get a buzz either. Never understood that about some of my peers in college. They'd drink stuff that would make you gag, not knowing that decent stuff was generally 3 or 4 dollars more, but would give you a buzz twice as fast. If you are going to drink, at least drink intelligently. It is college after all.
April 30, 200817 yr Those pictures just show a bunch of drunk pigs and the below picture screams under age drinking! 1. They are of age (pretty much all identifiable people in the pics are of age). Of course it's a ridiculous law to being with. 2. It's not nice to call people pigs without ever meeting them. Most people in Athens are actually pretty friendly. 3. The guy on the right is considered cute by most chicks at OU. Sorry, I just had to counter what I thought was an unfair attack. Jeez, I come back to UO for two days, and already I'm starting controversy... Thanks for clearing that up , however, they look very young We'll the manner in which those "people" are dressed, their facial expressions, behavior and posses captured on film is not flattering I agree, the guy on the right is a cutie! I bet he would probably look much more attractive, showered and in CLEAN clothes and sober. It's not an attack, it's what was photographed. Look at the trash in those pictures. It's all over and nobody seems to care, it's like a pigsty. You can't defend that in any form, fashion or shape. Oh Honey, please, nobody accused you of being controversial, although, I think you want to be controversial as you may need the attention.
April 30, 200817 yr Just come up to Oxford. Took the words right out of my mouth! lol.... ...also is it "plaid" or is it "Madras"?
April 30, 200817 yr Its tough to get too bent out of shape regarding student carousing as this has been the stape of student life for ages. This aspect of student life appears in Goethes' Faust, via Auerbachs' Wine Cellar, and in German fraternity/student drinking songs.
April 30, 200817 yr everyone in these photos look incredibly annoying welcome back from your sabbatical, c-dawg
May 1, 200817 yr what the? c-dawg 2.0 back in tha uo hawse....and now 80% more "buck!!!" haaaay guuuyyzzz! umm....wassup? aww im just effing with ya. it looks like typical college fun. dont put it too far up on a pedestal -- it looks exactly like one of the typical spring bgsu block parties or probably any other state u -- not even a burning couch or anything.
May 1, 200817 yr ^ that chicks wearing one of those "Cobra Commander" masks, AKA big sunglasses. Why don't girls want us to see their face? It's like living under Islam. On another note, when I was in college, I never wore khaki shorts and flip flops. I think I was the only one.
May 1, 200817 yr I'm just missing why going through college in a drunken stupor is considered "fun". I did have fun and drink sometimes, but drinking was secondary to what I was doing. I hate people, they're stupid. There, now I'm better.
May 1, 200817 yr Sorry, I just had to counter what I thought was an unfair attack. Jeez, I come back to UO for two days, and already I'm starting controversy... Eh, join the club. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
