Kentucky and Ohio, next door on 4th Street in downtown Louisville.

Alas, only the marquee and ticket booth of the Ohio remains. Brown Hotel in background.

Elegant Seelbach Hilton -- more ornate than the Brown, which is pretty nice.

Main Street, cast iron facades, near the site of a planned signature skyscraper

Humana Building -- an earlier signature skyscraper, one that is set back from the streetscape in such a way as to almost blend in

Great city. What kind of camera did you use? At first I thought these were from the 80s.

The bike racks are interesting, but not really my style.  I guess I just like the old fashion/classic look.  KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

I'm shooting film on a Canon EOS, but am buying an Olympus DSLR on Wednesday.

Interesting mix of buildings. Looks like a good place to walk around with a camera.

I do love Louisville; nice work!

I'm ashamed to say that it took me about 5 seconds to figure out what you were saying. lol

I was in Loovuhl a couple years ago and loved it. The Bardstown rd area was really cool.

Sweet

Lou-a-vull is a really an underrated town for it's size. A curious mix of north and south. Bardstown and Cherokee Triangle road area is as cool as any cool you can find anywhere else!!  The park system in L-ville is outstanding!  I'm always amazed how wide the Ohio Rivere is due to the shallow waters created by the "falls".

Louisville is an absolutely amazing underrated city.  Bardstown is an amazing district.  4th Street Live is overrated, but still a great asset.  Downtown is clean, quirky, and not large enough to make you feel small.  Mall St. Matthews is nice.  Churchill Downs and Six Flags are right in the middle of the city.  It a great little city.

MY biggest problem with it though is the stupid freeway running along the river.  Whoever thought of building them along waterways should be shot.  I'm ashamed of the way Cleveland has handled it.  Even Lake Drive in Chicago annoys the hell out of me.

Yeah, the freeway there really mucks up the riverfront.  A sin/burden soooo many cities have to deal with.  I think planners have learned from that mistake...hopefully.  When so many of these freeways were built, they pushed them through these waterfront areas because they were at the time the most run-down/blighted areas.  The waterfront was typically the birthplace of these towns, and so, contained it's most outdated and no longer used buildings.  They were just sitting ducks for the federal wrecking balls.

Maybe, more cities will be as lucky as San Francisco, who tore down the Embarcadero Freeway that once severed so much of that city from it's waterfront.

By "lucky" you mean have an earthquake destroy the highway and be too costly to replace.

Ha! Is that what happened?

Yes.
