May 9, 200817 yr GREAT PICS!!! This angle always has me question... just exactly what is that on the horizon? I know it has been discussed before, even seen before at this angle in other pictures taken by other forumers. It looks like another skyline, however, it's probably not. What exactly is it?
May 9, 200817 yr Im not really sure how to copy pictures in here, but in the picture with the title "This where the haze was poopy" what are the buildings way off in the distance?
May 9, 200817 yr what were you doing up on 41? What does the 41 Floor look like now? I'm told that floor hasn't been leased since BP left. By the looks of it, it was the executives and big board room?
May 9, 200817 yr Yep, The Divisional CEO and Presidents and the Purina CEO were up there along with a guest suite. Did you see the secret elevator? Did you check out the executive dining room?
May 9, 200817 yr I'm almost positive the "mystery" buildings are part of an industrial plant in Lorain. I deduced this by going on Google Map Pedometer - I started at 200 Public Square, and drew a straight line to the Shoreham (left side of the Gold Coast cluster and lined up with the mystery buildings), then continued it to St. James Church on Detroit in Lakewood (again, clearly "lined up" with the buildings and the Shoreham) and kept going - not much else of significant height until you hit that spot: Any ideas which plant that is? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 9, 200817 yr I see my temporary rooftop deck! And I think I like the comments as much as the pictures, not that they aren't great.
May 9, 200817 yr Pope, are you on the south side of the building (Euclid Ave.) I thought i was more westerly... that was the only windows that opened up out to that little area. Note to self, bring an allen wrench next time.
May 9, 200817 yr I used to do work at a big steel mill near Henderson Road out in Lorain. Is that the road your map is pointing at MayDay?
May 9, 200817 yr Pope, are you on the south side of the building (Euclid Ave.) I thought i was more westerly... that was the only windows that opened up out to that little area. Note to self, bring an allen wrench next time. When i was there, the building was set up in quadrants. NW, NE (the Superior side of the building) and SW, SE (the Euclid side). Is that still the case or did your company not adapt that when it moved in? My office over looked May Co. and that picture of gateway, brought back memories of the film they made from my office and the office above mine.
May 9, 200817 yr I used to do work at a big steel mill near Henderson Road out in Lorain. Is that the road your map is pointing at MayDay? Yeah, that's all the same area. I found a picture of part of the complex here: http://www.parkermarineinc.com/SteelPlant.JPG I think there are a few other similar-looking buildings in the complex that make up the cluster of "mystery buildings."
May 9, 200817 yr That's the USS/Kobe Steel plant in Lorain. I didn't realize it would appear so large from so far away. These are tremendous freakin' photos, Pope. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 9, 200817 yr I can't believe it's not perfectly sunny! Why did you take pictures through windows? Why did you make it hazy? Why didn't you take more time up there? : o
May 9, 200817 yr That's the USS/Kobe Steel plant in Lorain. I didn't realize it would appear so large from so far away. Must have used a telephoto lens to see into the next county. Tempting not to swing it around to the YWCA.

These are tremendous freakin' photos, Pope. neither did i, made me wonder if it was downtown elyria? it's a huge freakin steel plant, but i didn't think any of it was tall enough to stand out like that. guess so. here are a couple more pics of it from an old thread:

May 10, 200817 yr Was that a digital camera, Pope? Please tell me what brand. The colors came out nice.
May 11, 200817 yr The BRT looks to be coming along nicely. Overall I think my favorite pic would be the very first one (sans the scaffolding).
May 11, 200817 yr Was that a digital camera, Pope? Please tell me what brand. The colors came out nice. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 Thanks everyone.
May 17, 200817 yr Wow, this is a fantastic group of shots. Can I ask your permission to use your pic of the West Side Market for my Cleveland blog? I would be happy to credit you, however you'd want it noted. I'm working on a short piece on the Market and have a lot of pictures already but that one is really the best shot I've ever seen. I would never use it without your OK because I have no desire to steal someone else's work! Here's my blog if you'd like to check it out first: http://allthingsclevelandohio.blogspot.com/
