Posted May 12, 200817 yr Pleasant Grove and Brownlee Woods are two Youngstown city neighborhoods on the Southside that extend south into Boardman along Midlothian Blvd. Midlothian Blvd. looking west from Brownlee Woods, Pleasant Grove is at the top of the hill. Nothing says Y-town quite like… WKBN Pleasant Grove, where Florida Guy grew up. Brownlee Woods Rollercoaster, South Ave looking north with downtown in the distance. South Ave looking uphill with the WKBN antenna in the background.
May 12, 200817 yr Thanks! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 12, 200817 yr Great housing and neighborhood! I was on South Avenue at I-680 only a month ago. I have a big weak spot for Youngstown and lots of memories. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 12, 200817 yr I can't believe how many utility poles there are on south avenue. That street is pretty cool could be even better with underground utilities. Plus, the picture of the tree-lined boulevard is great.
May 12, 200817 yr Thanks for the tour. Living on the west side, and not having a car, I never get to go to the south side. (except South Ave.)
May 12, 200817 yr Is Station No. 9 on Midlothian? If so, I think it's next door to where my dad lived when he was born in 1928.
May 12, 200817 yr Yes. Are you talking about the building with bottom storefronts and apartments above?
May 12, 200817 yr great pics. thanks alot. my mom's house used to be on bancroft ave. in brownlee woods. dads house was on east boston on south side by st. dom's. youngstown will forever have a place in my heart gotta love it
May 14, 200817 yr this pictures are so spring. I love to look at other peoples nice lawns and gardens but don't want one.
May 15, 200817 yr Really nice. If pumpers get any bigger, they'll need a new fire station. Actually they do need a new station. The living area and kitchen for the crew at that house is much too small (the kitchen must be about 6'x8') and the pumper is a very tight fit. As much as I enjoy looking through all of the photos of cities and towns on this site what I mostly photograph is: . Youngstown is plagued with a major arson problem. Lots of photos of burning houses in that town at this link: Y.F.D. - On the Job (from the Youngstown Fire web site).
