I'm hoping that some people could provide some suggestions. I'm be buying a new dining room set sometime within the next year, but I'm not too happy with my initial internet search. I like Arhaus a lot, but they don't have a huge selection. I've also looked at Restoration Hardware and Crate & B. Are there anyothe companies that people would suggest?

Are you interested in doing any sweat equity?  If so, how about garage sales, flea markets, storage room sales, house moving sales.

How much is your budget for a new table?  Are you also buying chairs and associated furniture?

At this point in my life, I don't have the time to hit the pavement and scout the various garage sales, etc.

Budget? No budget. If we like it, we'll buy it on credit. We'd be buying the entire set: chairs, china cabinet, buffet and table.

CB2 is a cheaper/younger offshoot of Crate & Barrell, but I really like the design and I have been happy with the quality.  I've been getting most of my new furnishings from there and Cosmic Collectibles in Lakewood.

Design Within Reach is another place I like, but the prices certainly aren't within reach of me at this point.

Sounds like time for a road trip to Ikea.

I not sure CB2 items would fit in with their house.  They have a turn of the century house.

Do you have a picture of the dining room?  What's your style?

Design within reach has good sample sales you can check.  Other than that check Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel.

I definitely don't want to go with Ikea or CB2. I live in a 138yr old victorian. Overall, I'm a big fan of Arhaus and that sort of style.

^Another recommendation would be Atelier Home in Chagrin Falls (same place as Cottonwood). WARNING, the blogger added Enya for "ambiance" *hork* http://euroantiquemarket.blogspot.com/2008/04/atelier-home.html

Just for recommendation's sake, my partner bought a Mitchell Gold sectional for our house (1900-built) there - it's a tinge on the modern side but it looks great and is proportioned nicely given the smaller room sizes.

dude, I would totally recommend that place.  I've also got a bed out near punderson.

I know you say don't have "time" to look but its an option, I would consider.

3231, do you have any interest in Amish-made furniture?  I can recommend some really excellent places in Amish Country that offer great oak and cherry tables, chairs, and other pieces at low prices.

ah yeah, the victorian house wouldn't really go with Ikea.

If I were you, I'd look to hit estate sales.  Furniture is not an emergency and you said you have a year; I would use the year wisely and furnish piece by piece.  You can get some really great deals and find excellent pieces at those sales. I'm not a big fan of every piece matching every other piece either ala what you'd likely get in a furniture store and if you acquire from different sources, you probably won't run into that.  JMO.

My apartment is nearly one hundred years old. Modern furnishings work just fine, but I personally like the contrast.

I agree and I knew there was a reason I liked you.  "matchy-matchy" makes me itch!

Key word "apartment"!
