I'm disappointed, but the thing with politics is that we just have to be zen about it.  Jackson is the mayor for 4 years.  What is is.  Make the best of it, because we still have to find what opportunities there will be to make the community better.

^Here here.  I am trying to start off Jackson's term with an open-mind while being prepared to be very vocal if I need to be.  He said time and time again that he wanted to be Mayor to do what the people of Cleveland want, and I'm going to believe him until he proves me wrong (not that I'm expecting him to prove me wrong, b/c that would go against my open-minded theory...).  Anyway, I'm hoping for the best.

Seriously, he's going to have to a lot better job of acknowledging EVERYONE...not just the people that he seems to think are "true clevelanders."  I'm ready to be vocal too, send letters, emails, make phone calls, go to public meetings.  If I don't feel like he's making the right decisions or listening to certain people, I'm going to let him hear it!

note to self: refer to this post in months to come when I get tired of doing this!

Ewoops, Silliman was Mayor White's executive assistant for development, and I foresee him filling the same (or a similar) role in Jackson's administration.

Also, to those wary of Jackson, keep in mind that at least we're getting a new council president out of this -- likely Martin Sweeney. And many people say council presidents in Cleveland are even more powerful than the mayor. Certainly, Jackson was able to wield quite a bit of influence (often wrongheaded IMO) in that position.

Blinker,

Do you think Silliman is a potential Chief of Staff candidate?  If not, who do you think might do a good job in that position.

Punch,  I wouldn't think of Triozzi as the guy who got Jackson elected, he held a campaign function for Jackson on the West Side, and only three people showed up.

Ewoops, yes, I think it's quite possible that Silliman could be chief of staff! I think he'd do a pretty good job, too.

But if I could choose, I'd keep Ronayne in place. He's young, energetic and known for getting civil servants in City Hall off their butts and working for change in our city.

Ronayne's mentor was Hunter Morrison, so I seriously doubt he would stay with Jackson.  I think he would be a good fit at UCI.

About Triozzi, he did get a bunch of votes in the primary and he worked pretty hard for Jackson, wasn't he right up there next to him on election night?  He pulled a bunch of Westside votes for Jackson

Campbell, Jackson spent record sum on election

Jane Campbell and Frank Jackson together raised and spent a record amount of money battling for Cleveland City Hall this year.

The mayoral candidates exhausted about $2.5 million, slightly more than any two candidates have spent in previous elections, though neither deployed extensive television advertising campaigns, which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
