Posted May 16, 200817 yr I figured this would be a fun thread for this forum since it's interleague play and an OH forum ... Probable Pitchers: 5/16 - Sowers VS Cuato 5/17 - Carmona VS Harang 5/18 - Lee VS Volquez What are your predictions? Have at it! :wink2:
May 16, 200817 yr I was suppose to go to this game tonight but I didn't think it was worth the 31 dollars and don't really like the people I'd be going with lol. Are you going, Adam?
May 16, 200817 yr Well so far Cinci doesn't seem so impressed with the Tribe's starting pitching (though in the Indians' defense, Sowers is our number 7 starter and only up because of the rain-out last Sunday...).
May 17, 200817 yr I was suppose to go to this game tonight but I didn't think it was worth the 31 dollars and don't really like the people I'd be going with lol. Are you going, Adam? Well ... tie game now ... No, I'm not going. I'll be going tomorrow if it's not rained out. Yeah, Sundays game is a toss up. Both awesome starting pitching. If anything, it'll be a low scoring game.
May 17, 200817 yr Apparently this year's winner, of the interleague series, will win the Ohio Cup. There was a pre-season game that was always held in Cbus called the Ohio Cup, and now they've gone ahead and created an actual trophy (sponsered by the Ohio Lottery) for the winner to stake their claim to. I personally think this is a pretty cool idea...and something totally unique for professional sports in general. It would be great if it really turned into something special like you see at college football games where the team races to go claim their trophy. I can't find an image of the trophy right now, so if someone else can please post.

Cool yes, but not really unique- in Texas they play for the Silver Boot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_Star_Series I also think "Ohio Cup" is kind of bland... Can't we play for the Steel Buckeye?
May 17, 200817 yr Reds won again tonight! Dunn hit the 7th walk off home run of his career and scored 3 runs to make it 4-2!
May 18, 200817 yr Man he crushed that ball. He's an Indian killer. Is that his 3rd walk off against Cleveland?
May 18, 200817 yr SWEEP!, indeed. I was lucky enough to score tickets to the Sunday's game too. Cliff Lee must not be used to facing such a tough lineup. I think the Reds just doubled his ERA. ;-) Here's a memento of the sweep; download, save, print, frame . . .
June 28, 200816 yr Series is now in Cleveland. Pitchers: 1) Thompson VS Sabathia 2) Cueto VS Byrd 3) Arroyo VS Laffey
June 28, 200816 yr What a horrible game for the Redlegs. Another great start by Thompson and nothing to show for it. It's almost like we have switches on our bats and they decide whether to turn them on or off. Last night they were off. I feel good about todays game, but tomorrows will be tough with Arroyo going in there. He needs to be taken out of our starting rotation for right now.
June 28, 200816 yr We just need one win to snag that Ohio Cup! That's all I want. I want to drink out that cup. ;-)
June 28, 200816 yr ^Don't blame the Reds' O too much, CC is a reigning Cy Young winner. Now if they have trouble hitting Byrd tonight...
June 29, 200816 yr ^Don't blame the Reds' O too much, CC is a reigning Cy Young winner. Now if they have trouble hitting Byrd tonight... CC isn't the same this year, there's no doubt about it. Overall Cy Young, absolutely.
June 29, 200816 yr ^No, he's pretty much the same now- if you take off his first four starts of the year (when he definitely wasn't the same), his ERA is in the 2s.
June 29, 200816 yr ^No, he's pretty much the same now- if you take off his first four starts of the year (when he definitely wasn't the same), his ERA is in the 2s. Cleveland has a 7-man SP in it's rotation, with one on the DL. That's 22-24 starts for the season. 4 appearances is significant for a SP.
June 29, 200816 yr Volquez and C.C. are the two most dominating pitchers in the league this year. No doubt. I can see those two starting in the All-Star game.

Cleveland has had a 5-man rotation all season, just like every other team, but two of the initial 5 have been on the DL for a while. Unless he gets injured, CC will finish the year with 33-34 starts, just like last year, and I'd bet his ERA will be about the same as last year too. For May it was 2.44 and for June it was 1.89. His first four starts count just as much as any in his season stats, but tough to say he hasn't returned to last year's form over the two months since. All irrelevant though if the rest of the team (other than Cliff Lee) continues to stink. Reds fans, on the other hand, seem to have a lot to be optimistic about.
June 30, 200816 yr ^ Oops, you're right, Cleve does have 2 on the DL: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/roster?team=cle Regardless, it's about a month of starts, which mean 1/6 of the season. Detroit has a 7 man rotation with 1 on the DL. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/roster?team=det CC's wins are on the bottom: http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/sabatc.01.shtml
June 30, 200816 yr 5 man rotations are ridiculous. Pitchers in today's game are spoiled. There is no reason to have just a 4 man rotation. Here would be the schedule, Pitch-Day off-Light tossing-Day off-Pitch. Very simple keeps the pitcher rested and still in the mind frame of pitching. I used to pitch in highschool and we had a 5 man rotation. I hated it. Too many days in between pitching. Granted I played other positions, but it was still big of a gap.
June 30, 200816 yr Ohio cup The Ohio Cup Presently held by the Cincinnati Reds...suckas!! Pope: Fixed Link
July 14, 200816 yr wait, there's a cup? I thought The Ohio cup is a preseason indians-reds thing? Wasn't this held in Columbus?

May 23, 200916 yr Game 2 tonight ... huff VS. bailey Reds lead 1-0 I sure as hell hope Bailey doesn't fall apart out there.
May 23, 200916 yr I sure as hell hope Bailey doesn't fall apart out there. Even if he does, the Indians pitching is sufficiently awful for our offense to keep us in the game. Still....this is it Homer! Don't screw it up.
May 24, 200916 yr Lame ... ... fun game though. There were about 36k people there going crazy. Clevelanders picked a good time to come into town for the weekend. Go to taste of Cincinnati, listen to some bands, eat some awesome local dishes, drink a lot, walk to the game, leave the game and start over again.
May 25, 200916 yr aww man! the tribe falls in extra innings in the battle for ohio rubber match: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=290524117
