Anyone still interested in another ride?  I finally got myself a new bike (going to try to not have this one stolen like my last two).  I used to ride the industrial valley all the time when I lived in Tremont....actually used to ride through the old warehouses that were demolished for Steelyard Commons.  That was quite surreal going through them.  There were three in a row, each about the size of a football field and you could just roll through from one to the next.  The lights were on for some reason I could never figure out.  I kept expecting someone to jump out in front of me, but I never saw a soul while I was there.  Anyway, I would definitely be up for a group ride sometime before the weather turns.

We'll make it happen!  Stay tuned.

This Saturday morning/early afternoon would be good for me.

^ That works for me as well.

Anyone interested in maybe heading out after work Friday?

I might be able to swing Saturday.

I'll be out at the Indians game Friday night and Sunday afternoon.  Last home series of the year....can't wait till next season.  :: sigh ::

Bueller?  Bueller?  Anyone?

I can probably swing Saturday evening, but am unsure about tomorrow in the morning/early afternoon.  If you do go, I'll put myself on standby just in case something changes.

Anyone interested in creating an UO contingent on the Critical Mass ride in Lakewood on Friday?

Here's the group's Facebook page.

Now that the weather is nice again for a bit we could maybe squeeze in a ride...

Spring is almost here if you guys still want to ride.  Has anyone suggested meeting at the bike co-op on Columbus Road in the flats?  They have a casual ride every Saturday around 10:30.

Hey geary, I think it'd be difficult to get people out in this weather.  It was pretty hard to garner solid participation when we did some rides last year.  Maybe this year will be different, who knows?

I'll be taking my bike out once the weather improves a bit.

Who's interested in doing some group riding sometime soon?

When do you usually hold it? I would be interested in coming up for a Saturday and tour the city via bike.

I'm interested, but as with the forum meets, I have an irregular schedule that often conflicts with 9-5'ers.

I'm interested, I was just on channel 3's morning show for national bike to work day haha

I rode my bike to work for the first time ever today...it was a great morning

Maybe they're show your clip again in the night time news as a recap??  They sometimes do that. I was interviewed during the midday news about the Cleveland Gran Prix stopping last year, and they showed it again on the nightly news.

Hell yeah!

Do you bike a lot, or is this to test the waters and see how it goes?

I bike a lot in the metroparks and tow path - never really used it as a mode of transportation - more just relaxation.  I'm cancelling my parking pass here at work and plan to ride during the summer months.  Not only will it save me $105/month on parking, i find it puts me in a better mood in the morning. I'm only gonna do this when it's not raining and when its not above 85 degrees!

Any one up for some group rides??  Myself and some other members of bikeforums.net have been meeting regularly for cleveland area rides.  They have all been very casual, no drop rides 30-50 or so in length at about 16-18mph avg.  We are probably meeting this weekend (June 6th probably) PM me for details if your interested.  Lots of fun, no pressure.

^ Where do you guys go?  I might be interested in joining you, though I'm not completely sure I can hang that distance and length at this point.

On either June 6th or 7th we are talking about riding the parkway at W 130th to the marina by Detroit. It's 44 miles round trip, mostly flat.  We always stop and rest every so often during the ride, and we will probably grab something to eat.

We have had riders come along knowing they were only going to ride half of the route which is a-ok.  It's a leisure no drop ride, I usually wear street clothes.

Here is the forum where most of us reside in case anyone wants to follow our discussion or join in:

If you don't make it to this ride there will probably be another one next weekend.  Hope to see you there

What do you mean by "no drop ride"?

That means that if the group starts to separate, the people out in front will wait periodically for everyone to catch up.  Instead of just going and not worrying about anyone who falls behind.

No problem at all, and like I said if someone can't make it this time we have been riding together pretty routinely.  I do have some suggestions to anyone who has not been on longer rides before.  I'm sure most of you know this stuff but it never hurts:

- It is probably helpful if you have some sort of foot retention on your pedals like toe clips or clipless pedals.

- If you don't have bike shoes wear the shoes with the stiffest sole you have.  Running shoes are pretty good.  It will help keep your toes from

  going numb.

- Riding gloves are usually nice to have for a couple of reasons.  The padding cushions your hand a bit and they protect your hands if you fall.

- Wear comfortable clothes, shorts are usually nice in warm weather.  If you wear jeans or normal pants make sure bottoms are not going to get

  stuck in your chain.

- Most of us will probably be on road bikes so it will be easiest to keep up on something similar.  Some people ride mountain bikes with us but

they usually have road slicks on them.

Ok, so here are the final plans.  10 am Saturday. W 130 st parking lot, where it meets Valley Parkway, near Royalton Rd (State Route 82). If the lot is full there is additional parking in lots nearby, either east or west on the parkway. Destination is the marina near Detroit Rd, at the Rocky River, Lakewood Border.

You can send me a message if you want my phone number for more info.

Anyone up for a Cleveland ride this Sunday at 10:00 am?

Hello?  Echo...echo echo echo

I would love to make one of these rides.  Unfortunately, I have to travel for a friend's wedding on the 11th.
