Are there? no... but i am sure something could be aranged.. but it's really a rather plain looking office

Are you working in the office of Cleves?

Hopefully sometime soon. One of their applicants :)

UPDATE:

We have received word from Management that we will "most likely be taking phone calls on monday".

Take it for what its worth.

It sure has been a long and interesting week. I am out. Cya on monday.

MONDAY MORNING UPDATE:

We now have internet connectivity, and network connectivity.

Latest word is, we will be taking calls this afternoon.

People back in Philly, please be advised: At first,  it will be a VERY SMALL percentage of total call volume to PC Helps, that will be routed to Cleveland. As we start taking some calls, and see that the system is handling it well, the percentage will gradually go up. (and higher and higher as we get more ppl here starting in june).

Are there pictures of the Philly PCHelps offices? Just curious to see what you're moving from.

trust me, the cleveland office is much nicer. the philly one is mostly plain (although certainly not a bad place to work).

...aaaaand we are taking calls.

Not many - mostly they've been outgoing calls to customers who need callbacks.  I believe we have now taken three incoming calls, and are still working out the kinks - of which there are still plenty! :)

I believe we are currently receiving something like 1-2% of the call volume here, until we are more up to speed.  However, the point is - calls are coming in and being answered.

oh yes, As werff said, we are taking some calls now.

Yay!

Kinks or not... glad to see you guys up and running. I'm sure kinks were expected and things while stressful are being handled in stride. I cant wait to see the office next week.

all is well today. Operation is going as smooth as can be expected for a new office.

as the old saying goes.... "no news is good news".

Our Head IT guy is heading back home to philly tonight, for some well-earned R&R.

A sign that things are going fairly stable here.

There is still work that needs done, but for now, we have everything we need to conduct business.

and hopefully, all you poor people in Philly will quit complaining  :-P, since we are now taking a percentage of your call volume away (it should now by just as busy as if we were there).

Most of us werent complaining that you werent available for calls.. at least not in seriousness.. it was the 18+ people who called out on the same day....

Smitten.....

In my last post, the "complaining" comment was just sarcasm. (i know I didn't make this obvious enough when posting it).

I had heard a few comments, but I know they wern't all bloody serious. :-P

SmittenKitten has arrived! along with her husband! how nice to have you guys here

We are beyond happy to be here

Good Luck! I know you have been waiting for your chance to test for awhile now. If you have any spare time this weekend, you may want to brush up on Excel.

:-D July 31st is my 19th birthday! And thank you very much, I think I might need it, lol. Eric, the HR person who called me, told me that I shouldn't worry too much, because I probably wont pass it with flying colors, lol.

Good Luck! I know you have been waiting for your chance to test for awhile now. If you have any spare time this weekend, you may want to brush up on Excel.

Man, you're telling me! I'm trying to memorize every shortcut to every possible solution to any questions that might be on this test. And in spite of it all, I don't even have the Excel 2003 program!

I took a drive to Tyler Village, practicing how I get there. When I come in for the test, where should I park? It looks like there were a few cars along side the building, and an empty parking lot in the back, but didn't see any particular signs for 'employee parking' or such.

Along the 36th street side and if you pull in, if you see any space with the yellow lines that's not marked as "reserved for..." you can park there. Also, there's a security guard right there where you turn in, so if you need to, you can ask him.

Radeona,

Good luck on the test.

I'm sure ill see ya tuesday, as mr chips will probably introduce ya.

Thank you Smitten! And thank you Irish. I'm looking forward to meeting everybody. :)

Had the test taken care of and hopefully it passed. Got there around one, came back home at four, woo! Man that test was a lot harder than I thought. I anticipate a re-do coming up soon, hehe.

The building is incredible. That garden by building 44 is something else. And the space opposite of it would make an awesome park/garden as well. Really coming along great! It was a little weird walking into the place, only because I pictured a furnished office building with fancy paintings and desks set up. Not disappointed at the least though! In fact, it was so relieving seeing people dressed in jeans and t-shirts.  :-)

And it was nice to meet a few of you guys! Hope I work with you soon!

Have you heard from anyone about your results?  :?

Got an e-mail stating i'll get an update on Monday or Tuesday.

Was just curious because when I had taken the test last week, Jason said i'd be contacted within 2-3 days.

Nothing wrong with keeping people on their toes, I guess!

UPDATE:

I'll be back in on Thursday at 10:00. Going to meet with Jason, possibly for an interview. (I guess this means I passed the test!?) See you guys then!  8-)

Hey Rachel. I'm where you were last week...just did testing today. Unfortunately, Excel kicked my butt today, lol. It's nice to see other young women applying... do you have a strong background in Excel or comp consulting, or are you at a university studying CIS?

And I agree. Tyler Village isn't much on the outside, but it's looking good on the inside as far as PC Helps goes. Spacious. Nice desks. VERY well air conditioned :)

Hey there! Yeah, that test was a killer. I sat there for about an hour and a half, studying each question, and processing each answer until there was a faint glow around A B C or D.  :-)

Well to be completely honest with you, I have no experience in computer consultation, and I have never used Excel before they had told me there was a test. Also, i'm currently not attending college. Just a high school grad.  :-P

Totally... I can imagine what it will look like a few months from now, and I can't wait to see the office finished, it'll look so cool!

Good luck to you on Thurs. Post back to let us know how it went.

Ok, Rachel, I'm interested to know, after visiting the complex is safty still a big concern?

"I read that there will be a two-level parking garage? Oh that's such a relief!

Safety is my biggest concern in the area PC Helps will be moving in to, and I was worried I would have to park on the streets. What amenities will the building have, if any? Also, when will the development be finished, roughly? Was thinking of taking a drive down there someday soon to check it out.  8-)"

(from TV thread in the development section)

You know, it was almost like the block where Tyler Village sits has a sort of safety force field around it. The areas I drive by to get to the building seem a bit threatening, but when I arrived there, almost no one was around and the atmosphere was nice and calm.

It did feel a little weird being there only because I have never been to an office where it was still in the process of being renovated. Other than that, I walked past a couple people in the garden without feeling like I had to watch what they we're doing, I parked on a sidewalk spot right in front of a telephone pole, and was more worried about running into the pole than someone poking for a fight...

Basically I had more concern about how blazing hot it was outside compared to getting mugged or something. Though I did come at an off-peak time, the area was really secure and safe. I can't wait to go back tomorrow! (Hopefully i'll find a better parking spot...)

I GOT IT!

July 21st.  :-D

See you coworkers at the office!

Congratulations!!

See you on the 31st.. you'll be neck deep in Excel by then

I didn't know what this "Tyler Village" was so I had to check out the website.  Looks like a great place to work!  I find it disturbing that the website does not mention anything about public transportation access at all.  "easy access to freeways", "underground garage"....blah blah.

Good RTA access needs to become a listed amentity for these new developments....it is important other places even more than the damn parking.  Aaargh, sorry for the rant, but the mentality is so strange when you are trying to sell this "hip" new office space to prospective tenants from all over the country.

This seemed like dubious claim claim as well..

"The Tyler Village complex sits in the heart of the St. Clair Superior neighborhood. This dynamic area is home to 63 restaurants and is one of the few neighborhoods in Cleveland with a grocery store, drug store and a drycleaners"

Actually right on the corner of E36th and Superior is a bus stop. I know the #3 goes there because that's the one we take from the apartments downtown.

^I know there is the #1 and the #3....both mainline routes that go right past it and I'm sure people ride it to work there.  My problem is the website makes no mention of pt at all for a development practically in the heart of the city.  This could be one of the biggest amentities to prospective tenants and in a lot of cities it would be and would be a main selling point.

It's dumb for the developer to not tout this in the amentities section of the website.  It just irks me because it happens a lot. The fact that RTA is treated like a complete afterthought most of the time needs to change.

I GOT IT!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that everything worked out! See ya on the 21st!

We do actually tout that to prospects pretty regularly, not sure why it didn't make it on the website, but we had a ton of things to get in there and I could probably have a list of thousands of "shoulda's" but at some point you make a decision and go.

I GOT IT!

See you coworkers at the office!

CONGRATS! I was rootin' for ya...no more shoveling poo for you! haha... so hey, now that you're in, put in a good word? ::wink wink:: my vba professor would love to hear that i have a job that potentially uses the vb ap before i even start his class.

To all that do work there: What's the breakdown of software you help with the most? Or is it just some here, some there? Is it just a lot of migration initiation right now to new platforms, like Office '03 to Office '07?

Please have my dear friend Josh Miktarian and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He was shot in the face and killed during a routine traffic stop last night in Twinsburg-about 20 miles south of Cleveland. He was part of the K-9 team in Twinsburg. He is leaving behind a wonderful wife and beautiful newborn baby girl and his partner, his German Shepard Bagio.

I am afraid of where this country is going. I am afraid to raise my kids in this world. Someone please pinch me...

:-( I'm really, really sorry for what happened. Yeah, it does make you wonder...

Things like that are why I am so concerned about safety.

But, try and focus on what's ahead. You may be getting that call someday soon.

IshansShade,

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I heard about it on the news this morning. What a senseless loss!  :-(

Thanks guys. It's a real hard time for us accepting this loss right now. But there are so many supportive people-it's so good to know.

And thanks for all the info about the job opportunity at PC Helps, especially you Rachel. Unfortunately, "my impressive qualifications don't meet the requirements." :( Pretty bummed. But good luck to you all.

  • 2 weeks later...

First of all, I don't know you IshansShade, but I'm really sorry for your loss. That sort of thing should never happen, and I'm sure it has been really rough on you.

...Wow, kind of a weird transition trying to go from that to trying to ask about a test....

I don't have Excel on my computer, my parents have Excel 2000 on theirs though. Does anyone know if I studied on Excel 2000, would it be similar enough for me to pass the test on Excel 2003?

I'm going in for the test on Tuesday and reading this thread, you're all making me really nervous about how hard this test is! haha. I really want this job, I've been a server for three years so obviously I've got the whole customer service thing down pat, but like I said I don't have Excel on my computer so I'm getting really anxious about how detailed this test might be. If it was on the computer no sweat, but paper and pencil? Eek! =0P

For those of you who have already taken the test, do you think all those online excel tests I found on Google would help me prepare, or are they really different?

Thanks so much! That website looks really helpful! ^_^

Thanks! I really appreciate all your help!
