That was a fun movie to go see in the theater. Everybody walked out thinking they could be Karate experts by waxing cars and painting fences. I'm sure a LOT of wifes got their "Honey Do" lists done in record time that summer.

Rob (employee at the time) wasn't a nerd in the typical sense. Decent programmer...Devoted Christian...Father...and he could break every bone in your arm in 3sec. He runs "KajukenboCafe.com" if anyone is interested in such things. Anyway...

Tyler: Looks like things are finally back on track for us. Electrician is starting to get everything wired in. I'm hoping that by the time I get back from Chicago next week, we've got lights and are waiting on our next round of inspections so we can get drywall up and get moved in!

I provide transportation in/out of Tyler Village for one of my customers and I really like what's been done so far. I am one who sees what something can become and not what something has become. Tyler Village is definately one of the cooler parts of MidTown/Asiatown/Quadrangle/Superior-St. Clair.

Well can I say thank goodness for Tyler :)  I've been stuck here in Philadelphia since September, training with PC Helps, and we're finally moving back to CLE the week after next.  The more pictures we see of the build-out, the more I'm looking forward to working in such a quirky and unique environment.

Radeona - look forward to working with you.  I'm the guy with the accent :)

Everyone else - thanks for the enthusiasm.  Tyler looks to be a truly unique place to work, and I absolutely cannot wait.

And on the subject of nerds beating up muggers - let's just say our employee manual explicitly forbids us from bringing swords into the office...and there's a good reason for the rule.

Welcome aboard, Werrf.

I do have one question though: where in the world did you get that name!?!?!

When I was four years old and there was no room on the high score board of my cousin's computer for "Andrew", so I just bashed some random keys and got "Werrf" - which kinda stuck :)

Awesome

Quick note, APG hosted Digital Cocktails last night with great success.

I want to post some photos of some of the spaces we are building out now.

I'm always amazed with some of the old warehouse conversions.  Keep it up!

I was over at the PC Helps space yesterday to check the progress.  As cool as those pictures are, they don't do it justice!!  I'm VERY excited for the grand opening (hopefully just a few weeks away)

Oh, and last night I walked from Tyler to my home in Ohio City at about 8pm, and I didn't once feel threatened or in any way unsafe.  True, I come from Philadelphia, so I'm used to "questionable" neighborhoods, but still.... I'd have no qualms about hanging out at any of the cool restaurants in the area into the wee hours of the morning!

I agree, but don't hate on my iPhone.. between that and my dog, it's all I got!

Sorry, WW... I should have clarified:  The best camera in the world couldn't do it justice!!  (Yup, the space is THAT COOL that you just need to see it in person :-D)

Chalk me up as another PCHelper who's excited about the new offices!  I can't wait to see them in person.  Just a couple more weeks!

(And Radeona - good luck! Be nice to have another female around the place.  :-))

Mr. Chips, It looks like you made it to C-Town in one piece! Do you think that everything is near or on schedule? The photos look great!

Welcome Mr. Chips!  And welcome LoreleiF!  Good luck in the new location!

Yup, it's looking like we're on schedule for opening our doors the first week in June, though the office may not be fully completed by then.  Some of the lower-priority features (putting green, zen garden, etc.) may take a few more weeks.

Hey, as long as we have phones, computers, a teapot and some really COOL decoration, we'll be ready for anything!

Welcome Browns fan! Man, we're getting a lot of new people on here. Awesome!

Well, when someone sends a link to a bunch of PCH geeks for a forum where they can discuss their new office and...yup, you're gonna get a lot of newbies :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, KJP!  Reading this thread makes me even more psyched about our Tyler space.  We're able to do things here that just wouldn't be possible in our home office in PA!!  (Both logistically and financially).

And Werf.... I'll bring the teapot if you bring a box of those addictive chocolate penguins.  Damn your sweet British tooth! ;-)

Werrf, are you a Brit? If so, I love your country. I was there twice in the past year (see my photos in the photo section of this forum).

Windows were going in on the 6th floor of building 44 the last few days.. you won't see them from Superior until later because we are doing the northern ones first, but soon we will be down two floor 5 for windows and 2nd floor for open grate.

WW...Are they replacing the windows for the PC Helps portion of the floor? I hope so, the windows I saw from my last visit to Cleveland looked like the original from when the building was constructed!

Welcome Browns fan! Man, we're getting a lot of new people on here. Awesome!

Thanks for the greeting to the forum! I have a feeling this place will have a lot of traffic due to PC Helps' move in Tyler Village. I can't wait to get back to Cleveland and check out our new site in person! No disrespect to WW's I-phone, or his dog, but it will be awesome to view the new office through an actual walkthrough!

we put in new thermal pane, low e rated tinted windows on all new build to suit office space. So PC Helps will have brand new windows.

Wah! Been camping all weekend so i've got a little catching up to do! :D

I just got an email Friday saying I passed all their assessments and they'd like to speak with me further on the Computer Consultant position! Yay! I have no idea what's next, but all I know is that it takes awhile to contact anyone there so i've learned to be patient. 8) Looks like their building is almost set anyway, so when that's done they'll probably be sending the newbies in for more tests.

It's awesome to have some PCH employees on board as well! Werrf and Loralei thanks for the welcome! And yes - we DEFINITELY need a PCH geeks' discussion board. I can't stop talking about it, too excited for this job. hehe

Another PCH geek here, although the husband and I wont be starting until Aug 1st. The pictures here look great! I'm really getting antsy to get back there. (I grew up in Southern Ohio)

Werrf, yes, bring the chocolate.. and I'll even warm the kettle for you

congrats! I agree with the more women comment. It'll be great to have another female in the place

Radeona...Congrats on passing the assessment tests!

Thanks so much! :D I was contacted maybe a month after the tests were all completed and done with, was afraid I failed miserably and they didn't want to bother to tell me how bad I did. LOL

Anyone know the next step from here?

Werrf, are you a Brit? If so, I love your country. I was there twice in the past year (see my photos in the photo section of this forum).

I am indeed - full-blooded limey who married an Ohio native.  I'm afraid my supply of British chocolate is running low, though (sorry, Mr. Chips and SmittenKitten - I'm expecting a new shipment soon!)

For the moment, I'm having enormous fun making all my Phildephian co-workers jealous with photos of our new office space.

And we look forward to meeting you, Radeona!  I just hope you can survive the extreme geekish quirkiness that is a typical day at the office for us.

Welcome to the board PCHelpers ... you're getting too numerous for me to welcome you personally! We're all very excited to have you guys joining us in Cleveland. For those of you who haven't made locational decisions about where you're going to reside when you're here, I would highly recommend checking out the Relocation Assistance threads elsewhere on this forum. For those of you who are blown away by the Tyler facility (as well you should be!), this is just the tip of the iceberg ... Cleveland has a range of unique properties, traditional residential and live-work, and at a fraction of the price of most major metropolitan areas. I would definitely check out the GIGANTIC range of urban living options available on the forum, as well as at www.livecleveland.net. And us forumers are happy to provide additional information and advice. Welcome again, and thanks for coming to the Cleve  :-)

Another excited PCH geek here, I've been in Philly since July and needless to say I'm anxious to get back to the shores of Lake Erie.  The office looks great!  Werff, how come you've never given me a chocolate penguin?  Do I actually have to walk all the way over to your desk?  For shame...

Anyone know the next step from here?

Congrats, Radeona, on passing the tests so far.  Now that you've passed the tests, the next step will be...  More tests!  Well that and an interview.  I suppose because we are waiting for the office to be open that is why it took a little time for you to hear back.  But you should do fine.  Your enthusiasm for the job will be your greatest asset from this point forward so good luck!

Any word on when the new cafe will open?

Thanks!

I will check out that other thread when I have more time.. (i'm at work, yanno :) ) Actually the husband and I are coming out June 16th - 20th to view a couple of homes we're thinking of renting in the W112th area near Clifford Ave.

What's the news about the fitness center in the building. Right now, the hubby and I are members of bally's but if there's someplace more convenient.. hey.. might be a good idea.

*Smiles*

that be me!!!

Yeah.. my husband ....

before him, there wasnt a rule about swords in the office...

:)

Werrf, i gotta ask, which football club do you support?

Nu Life fitness is being built out now. We expect it to be completed and ready for business middle of July, beginning of August.

PC Helps now has new windows:

I like the windows...

Just in time. Thanks WW, I'll be checking back to check on that..

Oh boy, this sounds like a real doozy. :P

I should probably brush up on my Microsoft products knowledge before the real training begins, which could start as late as August from what it seems like.

Also, I think i'm in the process of speaking with Mr. Parker and possibly setting up an interview sometime. I'm nervous as heck!

Welcome, and please spread out here on UO. Don't just stay hiding here with each other in this corner of the forum. Be sociable! Make friends! Don't be "all the mutants at Table 9" from the Wedding Singer!

Hello All   Another PCH employee here gearing for the move back to Cleveland.  New to the site here and must say it seems like a very good resource for many things Cleveland!  Like most of us, I am very excited so far about the progress being made on our office space, hard to believe it will be occupied by the end of this month! And KJP, I will be sure to make my way around other threads on the site (particularlly the relocation one)

they have been preparing to move here for a lot longer. That was just the media announcing..

Question.  Why are there so many PCH people moving back to Cleveland, many that have been in Philly since last summer?  Didnt they just anounce the opening of the Cleveland location at the beginning of April?

We've been in the process of moving there for over a year (obviously). We were hunting space and also bringing people from the area here to Philly to get them trained so that when we did open, it would flow smoothly.

Most are from the Cleveland area but a few of us are from the Philly area and are volunteering to move.
