Last week I was briefly serving on jury duty at the Justice Center in downtown Cleveland. The court room where my jury was on the 19th floor. Juries get sent up to the court rooms in private elevators, then to the court rooms in a private hallway that goes around the perimeter of the building. Lots of big windows in that hallway!

Using my cell phone camera, I took these nine photos from three sides of the building. Nothing spectacular, just thought I'd share with the rest of the class...

That's all folks! Sorry for the reflections on the camera, but the weather sure got nicer as the day went along!

pretty good pics for a camera phone

Great views!

Were you allowed to carry your cell phone all the way into the courtroom? Cell phones and cameras aren't allowed inside the Allen County (Indiana) Courthouse, and likewise with the Federal Courthouse. I think the restriction on the Federal Courthouse, though, applies to all federal courthouses in the Northern District, maybe all of them anywhere.

Nice, I love the pictures of the Mall!

Yep. Carried it all the way into the courtroom, including my huge book bag from work that has my CD player, CDs, books, notepads, etc. All went through screening at the main entrances of the Justice Center.

P.S. the judge was none too pleased when he learned I was a newspaper reporter. It's why my jury service was brief. He was even in some of my articles though I doubt he remembers me specifically. But he sure remembered that my paper didn't endorse his re-election!!

The relationship between reporters and courts is weird. When I was in Chicago, I was automatically excused (sent packing) because I was a journalist. My dad was once sent away because he was married to a reporter. Yet a friend of mine, a few years later, in the same county (Tuscarawas), was made a grand-jury foreman -- and he was not only a reporter, but covered the courts!

I think that's any part of the Media.  When I was last served and called into the room where the lawyers gauge and "question" potential jury candidates.  As I said TW and that I was in charge of Public Affairs, New Media & Marketing....I was excused.
