June 11, 200817 yr I feal really dumb, but where is this. I'm guessing Cedar Point, but not for certain.
June 13, 200817 yr I kinda miss King Cobra. Wish they didnt tear that down. I like the stand-up rollercoasters.
June 13, 200817 yr The long standing feud with St. Louis continues! What's the deal with this long standing feud between Cincinnati and St. Louis? I'm originally from STL (but have lived in Cleveland for the last 6 years), and I've never heard any anti-Cinci mutterings around there.
June 14, 200817 yr Well, there is no "beef" between the two cities in the "real world." It's just Cincyimages used to live in St. Louis, hated it, and there was a past "beef" between he and former St. Louis forumers on another website. It's nothing more than that. Cincinnati doesn't care about St. Louis and I'm sure vice-versa. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 15, 200817 yr Does anyone have the article saved in their favorites ... you know the one with the writer from STL posting how Cincinnati keeps stealing their stuff? It was released right after Federated bought May ... That was funny stuff.
June 16, 200817 yr Shhh, this was bait. We all know St. Louis forumers have nothing better to do but lurk around other forums and make sure no one is talking bad about the most dangerous city in the nation.
June 16, 200817 yr Does anyone have the article saved in their favorites ... you know the one with the writer from STL posting how Cincinnati keeps stealing their stuff? It was released right after Federated bought May ... That was funny stuff. Seems they have been so worried about Cincinnati, a foreign company slipped in to purchase missouri's most well known company and reduce them to a division. Gives more meaning to "Anheuser Busch, Columbus Ohio"
June 16, 200817 yr They haven't purchased it yet :-P. By the way, only in Ohio (and maybe slightly surrounding areas) do the commercials say "Anheuser Busch, Columbus, Ohio". (Sorry, I have some STL pride left.....)
June 16, 200817 yr They haven't purchased it yet :-P. By the way, only in Ohio (and maybe slightly surrounding areas) do the commercials say "Anheuser Busch, Columbus, Ohio". (Sorry, I have some STL pride left.....) I am aware of both those points... Its sad that Americas most well known beer company could be sold to a foreign company. With the price that's been offered, I think it just might happen. InBev Stadium just doesn't sound right. I also understand the frustration of st. louis residents... "St. Louis residents have seen one local company after another move their corporate headquarters out of town. May Department Stores Inc. announced in 2005 it would be purchased by Ohio-based rival Federated Department Stores Inc., just after Pulitzer Inc., publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, announced it would be bought by Iowa-based Lee Enterprises Inc. More recently, brokerage firm A.G. Edwards Inc. was purchased by North Carolina-based Wachovia Corp." "St. Louis has gotten to the point where we have the brewery and the Cardinals - that's it," said John Schute, owner of the Sage restaurant and bar just across the street from the Anheuser-Busch brewery." Ok, before someone jumps on the InBev Stadium comment, I know they probably won't change the name, although it is possible.
June 16, 200817 yr I know all too well. My dad worked for A.G. Edwards for 25 years. Luckily, he was not one of the hundreds that lost their jobs as he now has a position still in STL with Wachovia. The AB stockholders get to vote for or against the buyout - based on what my parents have said, it doesn't sound like it'll be a wash either way - in one sense, the buyout upps the stock value, but in the other sense, even though InBev promises that the Bud HQ will still be in STL, will it stay there in the long run? I think it's gonna be pretty split, and a lot of people are going to be unhappy either way. EDIT: The other thing you forgot to mention was American's buyout of TWA. St. Louis was TWA's hub, and only a few years after American bought them out, the St. Louis hub was pulled. There is now an entire CONCOURSE of Lambert Airport that is still empty to this day as a result. Being as most of you are from Cinci, I hope that the Delta/Northwest merger doesn't affect your city - it sucks a whole lot to get a hub pulled.
June 16, 200817 yr Those were two actual quotes from an article I had read. I'm not sure why they didn't mention TWA, although an airline hub isn't a HQ it's still a major corporate presence, although more symbolically. http://www.beverageworld.com/content/view/34834/92/
June 16, 200817 yr Sounds like my move from St. Louis to Cincinnati was a smart one. At least they have a new fancy casino to flush their money away. :)
June 16, 200817 yr Sounds like my move from St. Louis to Cincinnati was a smart one. At least they have a new fancy casino to flush their money away. :) It's really not even that great, lol.
June 16, 200817 yr Is it open yet? It has to be much nicer than the dumps of The Admiral and Casino Queen.
June 16, 200817 yr Yep, the Casino opened over Christmas (which is when I was there), and the hotel and shops opened shortly thereafter. It's doing well, and yes, it is nicer than the riverboat casinos.... It's just..... well.... it's another casino.
June 16, 200817 yr I have wondered what might happen to Busch Gardens if InBev does purchase AB. Would they divest the Busch Entertainment Corporation division as not being a core asset? If so, would Cedar Fair be interested? Busch Entertainment Corporation has recently moved their HQ from st. louis to orlando.
June 16, 200817 yr I hope for the sake of competition that they don't divest the entertainment division. With Kings Island, Cedar Fair has already been a huge disappointment over Paramount. Maybe we get another coaster out of them but the customer service and perks of season passes are not to the standard that we once had here.
June 16, 200817 yr Another coaster is on the way, next year. That makes two since Cedar Fair has purchased paramount assets, more live shows are also scheduled under Cedar Fair. Overall I think KI will get more attention than it did under paramount. I only paid $30 for an eticket, and it was well worth the price. I think the standard gate price of $45 is well worth it, although others would disagree. People in the Cincinnati region don't seem to understand how lucky they are to have such a 'Big Time' amusement park in their backyard. I have been to Busch gardens, kennywood, dollywood, disney, & sea world and they are all low budget on thrills compared to Kings Island. Never been to any six flags, but I haven't heard many good things about them either and they don't come close on thrill rides compared to most places. When I was on the white water canyon ride some little girl was talking about the roller coasters she rode & then she says "disney world is boring compared to Kings Island" I said "thats right!" then I told her mother she has a "smart" little girl.
June 16, 200817 yr I appreciate Kings Island but I was coming from St. Louis and remember dumpy Six Flags St. Louis. Have a young child, I can agree with the annual honors KI gets for its kids area.
June 16, 200817 yr Where's that article that I asked about earlier??? Chris, Jayson ... no one has it in their favorites? It was classic.
June 17, 200817 yr I don't save sh!t like that, Cincinnatiis. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
