Posted June 13, 200817 yr have fun! http://www.toonyphotos.com/ What is rotoscope? Rotoscope is a free software rotoscoping application that can be used to give photos a cartoon-like appearance. This is similar to the technique used in movies such as Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.

June 14, 200817 yr i think it's the guy who wrote it, not sure. Rotoscaping? Fancy word for something you can do more effectively in photoshop. It is a cool technique though. other way around. it's photoshop that is the modern fancy technique. rotoscoping is an old technique for marrying film and animation that goes back to 1915 to cab calloway & betty boop, the cool old superman cartoons in the 30's-40's you may have seen, lots of disney stuff you've seen like snow white and cinderella (in which all the human characters were rotoscoped) and onward in time to 70's ralph bakshi stuff like "lord of the rings" and on up to the movie "altered states," which inspired that iconic a-ha "take on me" video in the 80's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscoping
June 14, 200817 yr Max Fleischer utilized it quite often. Along the way behold the awesomeness that was Cab Calloway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKWVMfrsUpo&feature=related
June 14, 200817 yr I found this a few years ago, it's kinda in the same vein as the rotoscaper. http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ The rasterbator takes a picture and turns it into a very large version of what you might see if you looked very closely at a newspaper or magazine, lots of little dots. It outputs a PDF file with a large number of 8.5x11 pages that can be reconstructed into the final image for hanging on a wall. I used it for a bit of cheap dorm decor a few years back. Dunno how useful it is past that, but it's interesting none the less.

It takes forever though, with the steps I was given online.
