I did some Googling and I got plenty of draft info, but no Cleveland shots. Thanks in advance.

Strange though as there is no Marriott Courtyard within walking distance of the event--the closest one I know of is in University Circle. Usually official or sponsoring hotels of an event are at or adjacent to a venue.
May 4, 20214 yr It's because Courtyard by Marriott is the official hotel of the NFL as a whole. During the season, there is cross promotion for it in all of the hotel lobbies.

Lester Holt bringing ‘NBC Nightly News’ to Cleveland: ‘It’s important we get out and get the pulse of the nation’ CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When Lester Holt took over “NBC Nightly News” in 2015, one of his top priorities was to take the show on the road from time to time. “As a national newscast, I think it’s important that we get out and get the pulse of the nation,” he told cleveland.com. So, beginning Monday, Holt will be broadcasting the program from five cities across the country to see how they’re reemerging from the pandemic. Yes, it is misleading. Some folks would be steamed when they find out it is not a steam engine. It would be nice if CVSR could do steam more than two weekends per year.

June 14, 20214 yr A very "Cleveland" story for our beloved USS Cod. Yesterday, when moving for the first time in 58 years (to a drydock in Erie PA for repairs), the towing company managed to run her into the superstructure of the USCG Moro Bay 🤦♂️. You would think they would have politely asked the Coast Guard to move her for a few hours while they executed this move.... This is the best video I've found. NSFW due to language 😀
June 14, 20214 yr It would be nice it they could find a place in North Coast Harbor to dock the Cod. I think it would attract more visitors there.

July 12, 20213 yr The term "Cleveland" has been trending upwards in Google's Ngram Viewer. The Ngram viewer counts the occurrences of a term in books over time. Below is 2010 to 2019. I get that "Cleveland" could include the president and that "Columbus" includes references to Christopher Columbus, Columbus Day, Columbus Georgia, but "Detroit" and "Pittsburgh" are pretty much the cities themselves. July 14, 20213 yr So this guy has a somewhat popular YouTube channel about cities, states and places. He recently published this video and it is filled with a lot of misinformation and typical old Cleveland stereotypes that persist along with some truths and decent video footage.
July 14, 20213 yr It's a mixed bag, and he's driving me crazy mixing up the city proper and metro regions. Quite a few fair points, especially about unreported crimes and regionalized police forces.
July 14, 20213 yr ^^Downtown really looks good (especially around Playhouse Sq. I still remember the Forum Cafeteria on E. 9th St), but I would have liked to have seen more people walking around. Don't know what time of day (or day of the week) this was filmed. The best comment was how Cleveland retains many first class institutions (paraphrasing) from the time it was a more prominent city, but it's a shame no footage of University Circle was included, certainly one of the greatest assets of the city. Also it would have helped to find someone with a slightly less grim and resigned tone providing most of the commentary (1st guy) , but I guess the creator needed to find someone who would reinforce his (probably) already predetermined conclusions of what to expect in Cleveland. http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
July 14, 20213 yr ^^I think I heard him say the Browns are not very good. Either he is misinformed or it was filmed prior to the 2020 season. I was a little irked when he said the winters are brutal here. C'mon, man. Winters are cold and snowy, but I wouldn't call it brutal. I'm glad he didn't mention the burning river.
July 24, 20213 yr the youtube algorithm gave me the worst show in tv history, so i bit and i am glad i did its interesting. it was a half hour show starring tim conway called turn on from 1969. it was kind of like laugh-in on steroids, so it looks like you are watching a bunch of tiktoks in a row. it was canceled after one episode, or after half an episode in many cities. it turns out all because of an incensed station guy in cleveland. there are several sources discussing the show, including an interview with conway, but let creator george schlatter tell it:

Interesting video not necessarily charmed with the ‘talent’ that this guy recruited to review the city but whatever. The video footage is pretty good and seems fairly recent as the Lumen and Beacon on display. Great footage of a freighter/ore boat on the river. Not very well researched - but I hate to admit the grouchy reviewer (that wants to leave) made a couple of good points…one being is that CLE should be one of the premier cities between NYC and CHI based on the medical and cultural institutions. Agreed that the lack of footage around UC is pretty indicative of how lazy ‘journalism’ has become in this age of YouTube. Also what on earth was that one guy saying when he mentioned CBus being more expensive? Aren’t the two cities basically the same for cost? Edited July 24, 20213 yr by BigMacky
July 25, 20213 yr 20 hours ago, BigMacky said: “Also what on earth was that one guy saying when he mentioned CBus being more expensive? Housing alone (the median housing price in Columbus is 66% more than in Cleveland). These costs trail the local economy. This is what we talk about when we say this should be a draw for Cleveland. we moved back to Cleveland because we were able to buy a mansion in Shaker that we shouldn’t have been able to afford, and wouldn’t have been able to afford in Columbus, and certainly not DC.
