May 27, 20232 yr Nice write up from an Irish travel journalist thanks to the new direct flight. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
May 30, 20232 yr Streetcar level of Detroit Superior Bridge open June 23-24. What to do with it? 2 streetcar tracks and a multipurpose trail in a third rail RoW is my vote: When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
May 31, 20232 yr ^ It's approx. a 4-5 minute walk from Tower City to that bridge plaza/park. In my dream I'd love to see Tower City once again become a large retail center, with the bridge as an extension of small shops, kiosks, etc. that could co-exist with some level of a reborn streetcar system. Seamless activity from TC to OC in a lively pedestrian corridor, like we've all seen in old pictures.

The Detroit Avenue Corridor's steady growth is begging for better transit and the sooner it comes the better (and cheaper to build). From Tower City to W117th, maybe? There are four rail Right of Ways. Reserving two for future light rail still leaves plenty of space for a multipurpose path for walking or biking across the river, somewhat protected from the elements. One RoW currently has a massive water pipe, but even just one RoW is sufficient for the path. I also think about where the Detroit corridor would be today if freaking Calabrese hadn’t killed @KJP’s Detroit streetcar proposal. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
June 16, 20231 yr I’m going to out this in the “Love” category / thread. CWRU National Championship tennis team repping Cleveland at the White House last week:
July 4, 20231 yr We did our usual 4th July thing and hit Edgewater Beach from 10am (when this photo was taken) until 3pm - when it starts to get a little crazy and busy. What a phenomenal resource we have and right by downtown. My hovercraft is full of eels
July 5, 20231 yr Author Huge asset of the city for sure. Is the Shoreway still a parking lot during fireworks? It used to be.

July 5, 20231 yr Big ol’ cruise liner docked at the back of the Browns stadium. There’s also another, smaller one moored a few hundred yards away at the actual port. I think this first ship may have been too big to actually fit there. My hovercraft is full of eels
July 5, 20231 yr Just found out about the wiki travel site on reddit: https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Cleveland At first glance it appears there's lots of room for more info. I mean the "Drinks" section alone could be several paragraphs instead of one measly arguably false statement, so have at it!
July 30, 20231 yr Good to learn that Daffy Dan is still around When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
July 31, 20231 yr ^ whoa, what the hecks?! a big blast from the past. and he looks good, especially considering i figured he was long deceased. well cool and i hope he has been living well off the money i gave him! 😂

I recall staying at my aunt's house in CLE for week, probably in the summer of 1979 or 1980. We took the rapid downtown and I got my first Cleveland T-shirt at Daffy Dan's at a shop located in CUT if I remember correctly.

July 31, 20231 yr I remember when the Prius was at the Cleveland Auto Show for the first time I sat in it to check it out and a few seconds later Daffy Dan got into the back seat behind me! He'd been out of the spotlight for a while then, so it was cool to see him.

August 18, 20231 yr plz excuse muh humblebrag and foodie humor, but i was prepping a little today for our trip down under this fall and took a look at foods to try in aus/fiji — fwiw its surprizingly not much — but anyway when it got to aussie lamington cakes oh boy was that funny because in every article on them clevelanders jump in and pop off too about the local specialty coconut bars and cakes: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2003-jul-16-fo-letters16.1-story.html https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/australia-food-blog/2014/may/16/lamingtons-provenance-unproven-but-tastiness-unquestioned

When sensitive historical wrongs were recognized by UNESCO, many times the perps of those wrongs (like the US) would remove themselves and cry corruption. Talk about snowflakes.

I don’t actually know any of these people, so I’m hoping some of you show up too, ha. @Blimp City @GISguy When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
August 25, 20231 yr Did a #22 bar crawl once: B&G, McKenna's, Pride of Erin and some terrible bar on the south side of Lorain just east of W117th.

It was great to see @GISguy @mermaidlindsay @marty15 and lurker Ryan who needs to set up a handle already. Top attendance was roughly 40, to the point where the east-bound #26 said “hell no” and rolled right past us. We ended up walking all the way to the red line to get back to Ohio City, but the company was good so it didn’t feel too long. https://x.com/jennaincle/status/1695798021026435163?s=46&t=7i2eCUyWNZMfcPIb8zesTg When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

Technically we might have all fit, but it would have been insanely packed with standing room only. Legit 40+ people in our group - articulated bus and up routes only for future BaRTA crawls.
