I’ve really liked The Black Keys for a long time, and somehow their two most recent rock albums (Let’s Rock and Dropout Boogie) are their best yet. Looking forward to this new one and hopefully a tour!

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

absolutely. bonus they wear the cle on their sleeves at all times and are as big of boosters as anyone could be.

^ Might be redundant/ obvious to mention this, but Ohio Players was the name of a 70s funk band from Dayton. Similarly, the ‘Dropout Boogie’ album name was a homage to Captain Beefheart. When I took my son to see them at the RoMoFiHo a few years ago, I was disappointed that they didn’t do any Beefheart covers. Apparently they do them quite often. Good show though.

My hovercraft is full of eels

^And subsequently, the Ohio Players were a big influence on what would become the sound of West-Coast Hip Hop.

The comments on that IG post are funny. Either super celebratory or nasty/catty meanness. Some people are just determined to hate anything they haven't been cleared to like already.

Also loved how some commenters were telling the people in the video (who are doing the thing and enjoying themselves immensely while doing so) that it sucks.  😆

In Cleveland, mushrooms digest entire houses: How fungi can be used to clean up pollution

By Nick Hilden

In the struggle to combat pollution and fight climate change, a growing number of scientists are beginning to look to one of nature’s oldest biotechnologies: fungi.

The city of Cleveland faces an epidemic of abandoned houses. Crumbling homes number in the thousands. These ramshackle structures are riddled with toxins like lead and dilapidated to the point of no return. And if tearing down and safely disposing of the waste of one such home sounds daunting, imagine thousands of them.

Man that was bleak. Reminds me of Bourdain's visit nearly 10 years earlier.

People have an odd attraction to the desolate. I bet the OP and Bourdain (if he were alive) would complain about how it's so sterile now.

Another BaRTA pub crawl next weekend (April 13) and they are taking it to the east side. I’m hoping to go

The New Center of the World is Cleveland. Locals Say It’s About Time. (WSJ)

Two massive events, one on the courts and the other in the sky, are converging on the city; just don’t call it a ‘bigger Des Moines’

For four days, Cleveland is the center of the universe. At least it feels that way in Cleveland.

“I see dollar signs, dollar signs, dollar signs everywhere,” says Mayor Justin Bibb, gleeful over hitting the tourism jackpot. “This is our moment to shine.”

Talk about cosmic kismet: The women’s NCAA Final Four runs through Sunday in Cleveland. On Monday, the city will be a prime spot to view the total solar eclipse.

“It’s crazy that all this stuff is happening at once,” says resident Ian Meadows ( @urbanetics_) , who works for Downtown Cleveland, an organization promoting the city center.

Nice to see a forum-er quoted in the WSJ!

Sagamore Hills.   Not enough cloud cover to make totality invisible, enough that it never got completely dark.

Saw it in 2017 in Nashville under similar skies and this was better.. couldn’t ask for a much better April day in Cleveland.  I think about all the tourists who came for this event and because the weather cooperated  will have had a fulfilled trip here and pass that along to the people they know.  Just an amazing day 😎

we had 89% and mostly clear -- so it dimmed enough to get pretty spoopy skies -- and i felt the cold dip.

we were watching via nbc too --

I went to Nashville as well. I still pretend a moderate sized cloud didn't roll in right at totality to ruin everything in and around Ascend Amphitheater. It was also as hot and humid as Satan's buttcrack.

It was definitely better here.
