I have never heard about this before.  Anyone have any more insight to the positives of this?

Form-Based Codes

Cincinnati delegation on way to Nashville to learn about power of form-based codes

Twenty-five Cincinnati leaders are going to Nashville to learn the secret of Nashville’s redevelopment success. The delegation of city staff, neighborhood leaders and local developers will arrive in Nashville Thursday afternoon.

Councilmember Roxanne Qualls organized the two-day trip so that Cincinnati leaders can see first-hand how Nashville has used form-based codes as an economic development tool to transform and revitalize its neighborhoods and downtown.

“Form-based codes are a powerful tool that cities are using to create mixed-use, walkable, transit-friendly redevelopment, and Cincinnatians are eager to learn first-hand about how we can use them to transform our city and its neighborhoods,” Qualls said.

Along with this group, Agenda 360 has also made Smart Growth, and Form Base Codes a priority item.

@ Oakiehigh:  thanks for starting this thread.  UO comes through again!

@ Ragerunner: who is Agenda 360?

For everyone else; I am looking for local experts who can articulate the benefits of Transit Oriented Development, Form Based Zoning, and any other tools (planning or otherwise) that aid in the creation of pedestrian centric places and ped centric commerce.  If anyone here knows of anyone in the Greater Cleveland area, please send contact info my way!  THANKS.
