December 28, 200420 yr What's up with the way the windows are going in? Wouldn't you expect a section to be completed before putting in windows in another section? They are of nice colors, however.
December 29, 200420 yr ya know i saw the tip of of The Pinnacle from Lorain/Carnegie downtown. It barely dented the skyline, but still, if something 20+ stories got built in the lot where the crain is it would definately be adding height to that area and it would be a noticeable skyline change.
December 30, 200420 yr Quote from WD.org page: With initial occupancy scheduled for February 15, the 80 unit Pinnacle Building will set a new standard for excellence in downtown for sale housing options. The high end units in this full service building will be all condos from day one. Twenty units have already been sold!
January 4, 200520 yr First update of the new year - from Jan. 4, 2005: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 16, 200520 yr ^You aren't kidding, Frank - I'm guessing they'll say "oh we meant, first occcupancy by February 15th". They better hope for some good weather days. Updated pics from 01/16/05: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 24, 200520 yr Yep, it's the usual update - a few more windows filled in. As slow as it's taking, I have to say there's noticeable progress even with the cold weather: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 24, 200520 yr sloooow is right. i think trump threw up three or four crummy people-box towers out here in ny since the pinnacle construction began. i'm kidding, slow and steady progress is fine. i wonder how they work up there in the open with the blowing cold and snow? they better hurry it up, the pinnacle officially opens in like two weeks!
February 1, 200520 yr Lets hope this get done ontime but more importantly safely and properly. I'm still considering relocating to this building and truely want it to be a success with hope of other high-rise condos to follow! This is one LARGE step into transforming our beautiful city from lackluster (from a highrise/condo standpoint) to a service oriented sexy city!
February 1, 200520 yr LOL!!! I wanted to add. I love this forum, i've been on here about a year, but i always forget to log in when responding. :type: I'll do better in 2005. Affordable. I live in NYC about 10 days out of each month. Trust me. the pinnacle and district park are VERY affordable and here in cleveland we get MUCH MORE BANG FOR OUR BUCK when it comes to real estate. As more units go up, more needs will come with them. We just need to fight for more everyday "taken for granted" in the suburbs type retail. Downtown needs a bookstore, laundrymat, 24 hour drugstore, regular everyday restaurants like choptle, yours trueley, applebees, etc. I dont want downtown to be like bratenahl....great apartments...but i can't do anything in my immediate area.
February 1, 200520 yr i miss my yours truly on the square when i used to live there......... anyway, welcome back? mytwosense........
February 2, 200520 yr Ughh...Nice view, except that they really should have cleaned that middle rear portion (the white section) of the Rockefeller Building when they did the rest of the facade. It looks disgusting.
February 6, 200520 yr Hey folks, it's your weekly "look at the two new windows" photo of the Pinnacle - grand opening in less than 10 days: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
February 7, 200520 yr grand opening in 10 days? that looks like they are pushing the time limit close
February 27, 200520 yr Wow, this is really progressing at snail's pace, isn't it? I wonder how peeved the pre-construction buyers are... Are there any updates on the stalled District Park project?
February 27, 200520 yr ^ Mister Good Day...there's a search box at the top that's excellent for finding buried threads.
February 27, 200520 yr hey, thanks for that! i did try that before starting my own posts, but I guess i was still redundant, eh?
March 16, 200520 yr tell me that Pinnacle has all the steel they need for the project to be completed! or is it the price of glass that has brought this project to a standstill???
April 1, 200520 yr Yes, it's the long awaited update of the next pane of glass for Pinnacle! Well, actually there is a little progress - the northern facade's glass is mostly in place and they're adding the glass panels to the balconies. I also checked the web site and it seems like about 33 of the 80 units are spoken for. Considering they start at $350K, it's good to know there is indeed a market! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
April 2, 200520 yr is it possible that they're just working in the interiors and they like the breeze passing through the building? the windows will come last? hmmm???
April 2, 200520 yr Is it just me, or does anyone else think the steel beams on the outside of the building are going to mess up the views from the inside?
April 2, 200520 yr I think it's one of those designs that will 'grow' on people. I like what I'm seeing - I think Cleveland has plenty of handsome, older masonry buildings and it's a nice change to see something all-glass. As much as I liked the concept of District Park, the buildings were pretty tame - not bad, but not really attention-getting either. I'm not a fan of where the garage meets the tower but I think they might be planning to add some facade treatment to better integrate it. oallastavros - have you seen the renderings of the views? I see what you're saying but I think the views will be relatively un-impeded: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
April 3, 200520 yr Guess I never really noticed the beams in those interior views so maybe it'll be okay after all.
April 27, 200520 yr ok, so with 45% sold, isn't it about time to wrap this thing up? If they're waiting for the snow to stop, they should've just built it somewhere else...
May 2, 200520 yr Hmm, that does give the building more cohesion between the tower and the parking deck. I'm still waiting to see if they actually do paint the steel blue like the renderings. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 2, 200520 yr What do we say to columns instead of exposed steal? The collums in front (first two/three floors...existing structure) are not steal but cement ones...as for the other (new stuff) well have to see it finished first.
May 3, 200520 yr Maybe I wasn't so clear. Do you think it'd look better to have those cement columns overlaid with a white (marble column-like) material instead of leaving them as cement columns? The vertical beams at the sides of the building would be done similarly.
May 3, 200520 yr If it were up to me I'd keep the top the same and do something with the bottom columns only. Be it marble like etc... I would even go for some other color than white or white-ish if it looks right.
May 4, 200520 yr "This will really slow down now with the 310 Laborers on strike." When you say they're on strike... well, I walked by Pinnacle today and didn't see any picketers set up :wtf: I also noticed the areas marked "Union Entrance" weren't there anymore - are they on strike and absent from the site? Anyhoo, here's an update from today. It looks like most of the glass is up on the northern half except the penthouse floors: clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 4, 200520 yr I really hope this labor problem does not effect Georgalis's views on building in the WHD. The condo's seem to be selling ok considering nothing is finished. I really think if this thing is a success, Georgalis and others will start building on some of the parking lots in downtown.
May 4, 200520 yr Yes, they are on strike and absent from the site. Many of the union construction projects around the city are shutdown. Read the article in Saturdays Plain Dealer and it will tell you more.
May 4, 200520 yr Ouch! Thanks for clarifying - I wasn't sure if it was related to the earlier pickets. Hope they get that resolved right away. Here's the link to the article http://www.cleveland.com/business/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/business/1114853464196770.xml clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 4, 200520 yr I just read the article. They are going on strike for 1 to 1.5 percent of pay. So say they strike this whole week. Guess what? They lost at least 2% of thier wages for the year. And since this is the warm weather months, probably more. If it lasts two weeks, then that is 4 percent. So who is robbing these people, the employer or the union bosses?
May 4, 200520 yr Some sites are paying retroactive such as cwru nrv, coltman road apts in little italy, john adams hs, shaw hs and many others. but there are a handful that won't.
