Ok, I just drove by the Pinnacle site this morning - no chance to take pics but I did see a construction crane building a scaffolding 'structure' adjacent to the parking garage that will serve as the base of the Pinnacle tower.

I'll try to snap a pic during lunch today, but here's some renderings, pics and the official link:

ooo cool

Holy shit does that look cool! What exactly is the Pinnacle project again and where is it located?

wow, looks like its going up in a great location too....thanks for the info.

BTW, when are we going to have a Forum meet in Cleveland? It's been over a year since I was there and I'm ready to go again!

I've lived in Ohio for most of my life, and last year was the first time I'd ever been to Cleveland. Just being able to ride the Rapid system was worth the trip for me!

^

I've yet to do that too. Thats it.....I want some real mass transit.

speaking of public transportation in Cleveland.....what's the latest on the Euclid Ave. BRT line? Has work begun on the Euclid corridor?

I think the Euclid Corridor project is approaching groundbreaking (end of this summer). There's some info at http://www.euclidtransit.org but it doesn't seem totally up-to-date.

A Cleveland forum meet? Okeydokey, I can try to arrange something - I'll make a post here and on the skyscraperpage.com forum when we can somewhat agree on a date. I'm thinking end of July to mid-August while you whippersnappers are out of school ;)

actually i saw a lot of preliminary work being done on Euclid a few weeks ago (it was down to one lane too heh).

It's about time you finally joined here!!!!

lol, I know. Let's just say I wanted to be fashionably late

MayDay, is there a website set up for the Pinnacle project?

I saw the crane coming home today from work- its been a while since there were two construction cranes up at the same time. Also on W. 9th, they are starting some groundwork for the new condos across from the Waterstreet Grille- this will be a ten-ish story project.

Now here's a view I could live with:

Now that's a penthouse!!!!

That project is going to be a masterpiece. Look at those views, damn near irresistable. Looking forward to its completion.

Also, I'd be up for a forum meet. It'd have to be in early August though, as I will be in Washington D.C. for most of July.

I'm just going to throw in a Cleveland question here......

Is the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade a good place to stay? Last time I was in Cleveland I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid which turned out to be nice. The Hyatt looks like it's in the same area and within walking distance of Tower City (Rapid Station). I'm thinking about going up there the weekend after Independance Day just for the hell of it. Maybe spend Friday night at Put-in-Bay, then spend Saturday night in Cleveland.

I've heard many great reviews about it. Theres like 60 some odd rooms styles and the rooms are really bigand have high ceilings. You can get a room inside the arcade and look down at the mall area or stay at one of the 10 story towers on each side.

The only complaints i heard was the fact that being on the interior rooms of the arcade can be noisy (shoppers down below).

John, the Hyatt is quite a nice place to stay - the noise from the shoppers is only an issue on weekdays around lunchtime. Otherwise the rooms are quite insulated (I took a tour of the facilities, including model suites and there wasn't much ambient noise). Now, the construction from the 515 Euclid project *might* be an issue but I'd call ahead to be sure.

Anyways, some updated photos of the Pinnacle, as promised :)

The structure behind the crane is the parking garage base:

Nothing makes a skyline look better than a crane

What's the 515 Euclid project again?

oh yeah, I remember that project now. I can't wait to get to Cleveland again!!!

Cranes in the sky makes my day. I say that all the time......but it's true.

I walked by the one on Euclid 515 and its really coming along from the last time i seen it

I havent seen cranes in a looong time in Cleveland. A sight that is welcome.

ooo nice shots, when i was downtown the other day i was thinking id have to strain to find the crain, ha no, that crain is way up there.

i was wondering, whats that building to the right of it? are those apartments/lofts as well?

yeah i agree about cranes to me its a symbol of progress i like looking up at the cincinnati skyline and seeing the queen city square crane.

No link for the article

So 12 stories + 3 story parking garage = 15 story condo tower

Doesn't look like much has happened to the frame in the last three weeks except for the extension of the vertical beams.

oh wow, its starting to rise above everything else

did district park start yet?

@ grasscat - you're right, there's been a little added to the vertical structure but it seems like they're working on the lower portions for now.

@ zaceman - trust me, the moment I get a glimpse of a crane being set up at District Park, I'm all over it! :) I know they said a September groundbreaking - in Cleveland it seems like they give or take a month on those dates.

the reason that nothing much has happened as far as going up with the steel goes is that an ironworker can only set steel if there is either concrete decks or metal decks 30' or less below them. all projects go like this. the ironworkers get a good start then let the cement contractor will catch up. sometimes in rural areas, ironworkers will break the 30' rule (or two floors). downtown however, they are likely to get caught by their business agent.

that is actually a federal safety rule. setting structural steel is dangerous, however very quick to do. if it was not for this rule, a building the size of pinnacle would probably have all of the structural steel done by now.

I didn't know about that rule. I'm sure I've seen it broken at least twice, here.
