Downtown Cleveland - Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn Select

Do any of you have any experience with the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid in the CBD or Holiday Inn Select on Lakeshore (I know it's under construction)?  My parents are coming up at the end of the month, but they're being cheap, and these hotels seem to be the cheapest I've found.  Any thoughts?  Thanks  :-D

I've had some friends stay at the express and I found it pretty nice actually (and you can't beat it for the price).  And by the end of the month I think lower euclid will be rounding into shape.

The Express is great; the rooms are insanely large and there are many historic accents still intact.

Thanks guys - I will recommend it.  They've been staying at the Clarion in Beachwood the last couple of years since I've lived in Shaker, but we're moving downtown, and it seems like such a waste to stay all the way out in Beachwood "just to save $30.00 a night".  My mom likes to cry poor, what can I say...

Several people on this board have had success at getting insanely low rates at the Hyatt downtown through Priceline - I don't know the trick to making sure you get the Hyatt but I'm sure someone on this board can share it.

There isn't a way that I know of that you can choose the Hyatt if naming your own price. It can be selected at their discounted rate but it is always cheaper to name your own price.

The one on Euclid is nice.. big, clean room for the price.

If you do not have right downtown plans you can consider and price Stone Gables or Clifford House B&B s in OC. I made my spouse put international business guests in Clifton House...and they lived to tell about it

For the longest time I was always getting the Hyatt when I tried on Priceline, but then one time I got the Embassy Suites (before they redid the rooms) and I didnt stay there due to "the occasion" and some of the negative things I read on  negative things I read on Tripadvisor, so then I either just used the Hyatt site (where I was getting $79), or used the govt rate at the Ritz...

The Hyatt is amazing, just being able to stay in the Arcade makes it worthwhile.

My parents went ahead and reserved a room at the HIExpress.  I told them they have to go to the arcade since it's right next door.  I knew I could count on you guys for good input.  Thanks!

Stay away from the Holiday Inn Select on Euclid!!! The place is a hot mess right now and their staff is bad news. I hear that they regularly have elevator problems and guests have to use the stairs...even to the top floors!

I've never heard a bad thing about it and pretty reguarly send people there.

Do you mean the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid?  Or the Holiday Inn Select on Lakeside?

BIG difference.
