Continuing a walk across the Bronx -- here heading across 161st toward yankee stadia. Part one was hunts point and southern blvd and part two was longwood historic district and morrisania/Melrose in the heart of the Bronx.

On 161st at the grand concourse is the boxy classical/art moderne Bronx county courthouse (1933)

 

 

The grand concourse is dominated by art deco/art moderne stylings, I’ll do a thread sometime

 

 

Facing the courthouse across the street is the die lorelei statue (1893), cleaned up in 1999

The grand concourse is very nice.  I imagine that type of housing on Chester, Carneige, Upper Euclid, Wade Park and Hough back in  the day

That was fun.  Good to see the old stadium (while it lasts), though I haven't been there in over 30 years.  Thanks for the tour.
