Went to the taste of Chicago/4th of July Celebration as well as Milwaukee Summerfest to see the Roots this weekend.  I'll post the Chi pictures now and maybe the MKE ones later.

The food was great, but it got very very crowded lol.

Wow, that looks crazy with all of the people.

Awesome shots though, looks like fun.

Hayward, these shots and compositions are great!

Nice! Thanks for taking the time to upload these.

Great pictures!

I like a good crowd but that's bit much. Nice shots!

Nice!  I met my Nephew and Niece in Chicago on Friday.

They went to the taste.  My nephew took a bazillion pictures, although he refused to take pictures of the bean or the cube!

I'm just glad they weren't hurt in the shooting that took place on Thursday night.

I miss Chicago   It's been too long....  *Sigh*  Nice pics though.

Wonderful photos! I love Chicago's energy when it's busy, but that crowd would have been overwhelming for me. Thanks for posting the photos.

The crowd is definitely overwhelming.  When I lived there a few years back - i was there when a riot broke out and a whole bunch of people got stabbed.  I was visiting friends this past weekend and refused to go back down there.  At Good thing too - after the fireworks on the 3rd - four people were shot in the loop and one of them died.

Unfortunately when you have over 1million people - it does take many bad apples to cause a miserable experience for the rest.  It is something to see that many people in one place though.

That scared the hell out of me.  My nephew and Niece were caught up in that.

Without trying to sound ridiculous.  I don't think the shootings were a big deal and should be taken with a grain salt.  There's always going to be incidents when you cram hundreds of thousands into one place.  You know gangs will be in attendance, but there is nothing anyone can do about that.

Is being downtown for these events worth risking your life?  Of course it is, as if setting off homemade fireworks in your backyard is any safer.

Well the shooting happened right across from where my nephew and niece were.  They saw most of it.  They said..they just ducked behind a planter...then ran to the el.

Well the experience will definitely be awful for some people.  I had posted what I said just after listening to a news conference with the mayor regarding the incident and people's shock, and how it would affect the summer Olympics goal.  It happens time to time, yet people still continue to attend.
