Posted July 9, 200816 yr Miami Beach’s Art Deco District (aka South Beach) comprises of nearly 1000 Art Deco, Mediterranean, and Streamline Moderne buildings. The city created stringent preservation laws in the late 1970’s that saved many of these structures from the wrecking ball. The majority of these buildings have been restored to their former glory. Fellow forumer UncleRando was in town and we set out on a tour of the Deco District. The weather was less than ideal for photography and Mother Nature cut the tour short. Nevertheless I was able to get in some decent shots. Lincoln Road Mall Washington Ave. Been there done that... Not a natural body part in sight!!! ;) As would be expected, Miami Beach is always nice to visit between November and April!!!!!!!

July 10, 200816 yr Easily one of my favorite neighborhoods in the US from an architectural standpoint. I LOVE tropical deco. We have a dash of it out here in LA, but not nearly enough by my standards!
July 10, 200816 yr The colors are really great and work so well in that hot, humid climate. You sure don't want a nice cool blue in Buffalo! The post office is a gem. It gets a little crowded for me, but still lots of fun.
