Miami Beach’s Art Deco District (aka South Beach) comprises of nearly 1000 Art Deco, Mediterranean, and Streamline Moderne buildings. The city created stringent preservation laws in the late 1970’s that saved many of these structures from the wrecking ball. The majority of these buildings have been restored to their former glory.

Fellow forumer UncleRando was in town and we set out on a tour of the Deco District. The weather was less than ideal for photography and Mother Nature cut the tour short. Nevertheless I was able to get in some decent shots.

Those buildings are so gorgeous.  I'd love the chance to cruise down Ocean Drive at dusk to really take it all in.  Miami is such an iconic city.  I want to go there so bad lol.  Thanks for the tour!!

Fantastic shots of one of America's greatest urban neighborhoods.

I was thinking the exact same thing!  Ahh I remember the club that used to be next to Jerry's.  That loews hotel is a mess.

Jerry's is the former Warsaw.

Loved the pics! I go to see a good friend of mine who moved to Miami Beach for a job and it is always soooo much fun to visit; its like going to a fantasy land! Not a natural body part in sight!!! ;) As would be expected, Miami Beach is always nice to visit between November and April!!!!!!!

YOU'RE RIGHT...GOD IM GETTING OLD.

Beautiful buildings and a great neighborhood!

What a way to start my day - stunning buildings, fabulous streetscapes, and delicious photography!

Oh, s***! I just drooled all over my keyboard!

Rob, we'll get you down to Ocean Ave. right between 10 & 14 Streets.  Then you can drool!

Easily one of my favorite neighborhoods in the US from an architectural standpoint.  I LOVE tropical deco.  We have a dash of it out here in LA, but not nearly enough by my standards!

The colors are really great and work so well in that hot, humid climate.  You sure don't want a nice cool blue in Buffalo!  The post office is a gem.  It gets a little crowded for me, but still lots of fun.
