Bohardts name is cropping up in some interesting places. I was trying to google to see if he had a campaign website, and came acorss this "smart growth" smart growth news site that mentions Bohardt in connection with something called "Greater Ohio", which seems to have alot of NW Ohio players, but Bohart is on the steering committee... Having secured almost $500,000 from the Cleveland-based Gund Foundation and other donors, reports Akron Beacon Journal writer Bob Downing, Greater Ohio steering committee chairman and EcoCity Cleveland founder David Beach says the next governor must take a firm anti-sprawl stand and lead as former or present governors in Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and Pennsylvania have done. His diverse 26-member steering committee represents a whole spectrum of interests. It includes Ohio Environmental Council leader Vicki Deisner, Scenic Ohio head Christine Freitag, AFL-CIO Cleveland Federation of Labor representative John Ryan, Catholic Diocese Commission on Catholic Community Action representative Len Calabrese, Greater Cleveland Growth Association member David Goss, Home Builders Association of Dayton and Miami Valley official David Bohardt, and retired Akron public relations expert David Meeker.

Incidentally, driving around town the yard sign distribution is pretty predictable. Most of the McLin signs are in West Dayton and the Bonhardt signs in Belmont and East Dayton. ...however, doing a pub crawl after the Cityfolk concert last weekend I did notice two of the gay bars, DJs and Masque, had Mclin advertising. Masque also had the "Reform Ohio" adversting on their video screens.

October 31, 200519 yr Both of the candidates spoke last week at my neighborhood association's "Meet the Candidates Night." As one of the article points out, McLin mostly focused on balancing the budget while maintaining the bulk of city services and Bohardt kept going about how more police are needed. With only a week to go, I still can't decide who to vote for. I like a lot that Bohardt has to say and think that we might be able to get more done, but I wish he would expand upon how he plans to accomplish these things. McLin, although certainly not a great speaker, is truly passionate about Dayton and improving the city. The city manager has most of the power (and Dinneen seems to be doing a good job)...but I just wish McLin didn't seem like such an idiot, because that is certainly not the impression that I get when I have spoken with her. As Jeff pointed out, there seem to be widespread support of Bohardt on the east side. I think I am the only person on my entire block that does not have a Bohardt sign in my yard.

From an admittedly narrow historic preservation perspective I was sort of hoping Bohardt would win, as I knew he was comitted to doing something about the long-vacant Arcade.. Whaley is an assistant to Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith. Both were endorsed by the Montgomery County Democratic Party. Karl Keith should consider running for higher office as he comes across real good in public. I saw him in action at a benefit for that Lieberman woman who won a county commissioner seat (and who also worked in his office), and was impressed with his ability to work a crowd...
