Posted July 12, 200816 yr from apartment therapy blog -- these are 100% completely charming: These are three favorites from a series of illustrations of 1911 interiors. In the dining room drawing above we like the cool mix of blues and greens with ivory highlights. That curtained door in the corner probably leads to something like a butler's pantry. Check out that casual arrangement of the furniture: there's plenty of space around the small round table and just a couple of chairs are pulled up, with the others spread around the room. Historic Style shares these bedroom illustrations that are just downright cheery. Green again, in the area rugs of both spaces. We love how the bedside tables, bureau, and desk are lit by pendants in both rooms. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/bedroom/illustrations-of-1911-interiors-055886
July 12, 200816 yr That illustrator was very talented. Mind the use of shading and shadows. I am about to redecorate a second floor bedroom in a bungalow. It has sloping ceilings, and a chopped up floorplan, what with all the closets cutting into the room to accomodate the side attic closet and the L-shaped stairwell coming up from the first floor. The ceilings are only 7' 2". I would like to do the moldings so that we could have a white ceiling above. I wonder if the effect would look "busy" since the room also has four double-hung windows. I really want to do the yellow walls like in picture number 2. Maybe green wall to wall carpeting because I really don't want to strip another hardwood floor.

If you post them pre reno maybe on of our carpenter/contractors can make a suggestion. With ceilings that low are you going to use that as a true bedroom?
July 14, 200816 yr It appears the ceilings in the yellow room are around 7' (noting the height of the bedroom entry door) if this a concern to you in remodeling.
