Mission Coffee has reopened at 11 Price Ave. The local-owned roaster and coffee shop operator called that space home from 2012 to 2020. August 6, 2024Aug 6 Yes Sushi Brings Taste of Asia to Downtown The first Yes Sushi opened in Columbus just over a month ago, and business has been booming. Yes Sushi opened at 443 E. Main St. in July. The eatery features a range of Asian cuisine, such as sushi, bento, bubble tea and ramen. This is the first Yes Sushi restaurant, however, more are on the way. Additional locations are expected to open in Gahanna, Hilliard and near Ohio State’s campus. The restaurant has kept busy since it opened. August 7, 2024Aug 7 First Look: Smash Buddies Opens in Brewery District In a little over a year, Smash Buddies has grown from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar. Smash Buddies, a food truck specializing in smash burgers, was founded by Kole Nuehs and Jared France in June 2023. The burger joint will open a brick-and-mortar Wednesday at 460 S. Front St., formerly Marvin’s Restaurant & Lounge, and will celebrate its grand opening Saturday. The menu includes a few additions but is still as simple as before. There’s The Original, which is just beef, cheese and sauce, which comes in a double or triple. August 8, 2024Aug 8 New Kurdish Restaurant Finds Home Downtown Friends Ikhlos Muhammad and Kouzan Abdullah couldn’t find the Kurdish food they longed for in Columbus, so they decided to open a restaurant of their own. Located at 330 S. High St., Silav Cafe & Grill held a soft opening in June but didn’t officially open until mid-July. This week is the first that they’ve sold breakfast, and the restaurant will host a grand opening celebration on Sunday. Kurdistan is located in Western Asia and spans parts of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. Muhammad said Kurdish food is like Middle Eastern but with a twist. September 17, 2024Sep 17 Italian Restaurant Coming Soon to Easton Town Center The family behind Lindey’s Restaurant & Bar in German Village is bringing a taste of Italy to Easton Town Center. Bar Italia is expected to open in 2025 at Easton, located across the street from Del Mar at 4089 The Strand East. Pine Coast Cafe is now open at 3229 Hilliard Rome Road in Hilliard. It's the second location for Pine Coast, which was founded by Moneer Abdo and Nasser Mozep in Dearborn, Michigan in 2020. Philadelphia natives Shanika and Jomar Sheppard moved to Columbus in 2017. The married couple launched Marlow’s Cheesesteaks in 2021 as a food truck and opened their first brick-and-mortar a year later in Gahanna at 93 N. September 26, 2024Sep 26 Family behind Rooh opening Flour Modern Pasta Bar next week The family behind Rooh in the Short North is turning its creative attention to Italian food with its newest restaurant. Flour Modern Pasta Bar will open Monday at 1540 Polaris Pkwy. at Polaris Fashion Place. Chef and creator Yash Kishinchand wants to take the same melding of techniques and cuisine applied to Indian food at Rooh and do it with Italian food. “I don’t do cuisine necessarily,” he said. “I just like good food. ... I want to show I can do more than Indian."
