For now, my money is on a spot at the Peninsula. Smith & Wollensky to leave Easton by January; searching for downtown Columbus location “A well-known steak restaurant will be closing its doors in a few months at Easton Town Center. Smith & Wollensky said it is reaching the end of its 25-year lease at Easton Town Center with no options for renewal. The restaurant is looking into a new location downtown, but did not say where exactly.” https://www.10tv.com/mobile/article/news/local/smith-wollensky-leaving-easton/530-10db3faf-e20b-4315-a52c-68f31f02227d There a quite a few options really. They could take the retails space fronting the new AC Hotel on Park St. They could also fill a large space in the Edwards development fronting High Street. I like the Edwards option because they are still within blocks of the convention/arena area but also within blocks of Capitol Square. I wouldn't count out future options in Franklinton either, but not sure that's the area they want to be in. I feel like a lot of Steakhouses for some reason stick close to each other. Right now you have Hyde Park, Ruth Chris and Jeff Ruby all 3 surround the convention center. Either way it will be interesting to see where in the downtown area they end up selecting. The Edwards building would be a good option. Great visibility and plenty of space. I like the Park St space too, but I wonder if it’s too small for this tenant. I hope we someone move into that space soon though, since it is really unique.

I think the restaurant space in the Merchant Tower would be a great spot, being so close to the Convention Center, but I can’t see S&W waiting that long either. Seems like harder competition in the area won’t be good for them either. You have Jeff rubys, Hyde park, Ruth’s Chris and Mitchell’s Steakhouse already. Haven’t had it ever, but doesn’t seem like it would be a good addition anywhere.

October 19, 20222 yr First Look: New Hilton Tower Debuts Flagship Restaurant FYR The Hilton Columbus Downtown has a new flagship restaurant. Situated in the bottom of the hotel’s new tower at 404 N. High St., FYR is now welcoming guests for breakfast and dinner. The wood-fired eatery takes inspiration from Latin American cuisine with Argentinian-born Chef Sebastian La Rocca at the helm in the kitchen. Using a variety of cooking techniques over a live-fire grill, La Rocca says about 90% of FYR’s food touches fire. Guests can expect a menu of simple, elevated dishes with a little something for everyone. La Rocca recommends the Wood Oven Roasted Tomato starter, with panela honey, goat cheese, charred onions and sumac, as a dish that really displays what FYR is all about. The Cured Duck Breast, served with creamy, cheesy potatoes and criolla sauce, as well as the Grilled Bone Marrow, with sea urchin and “chimi Hendrix,” are other favorites of the chef. October 26, 20222 yr Third time’s the charm? OX-B's takes over BrewDog's Short North kitchen for first Columbus location “Local-based OX-B’s is taking over the kitchen space inside BrewDog at 1175 N. High St. starting next week, though visitors with lucky timing might be able to get a taste in the days before then. “We think we’re a perfect fit with BrewDog,” said Daniel Hamm, district manager and director of catering. “What goes better with beer than chicken wings?” It’s the first Columbus location for OX-B’s, which launched inside a shipping container in Newark in April 2020.
