The world had failed to end due to a computer glitch, we would soon find ourselves arguing over things called "chads" in a place called "Florida," and most importantly, decorated pigs were on display around greater Cincinnati. I have pictures of a few of these pigs. Anyone else who has pictures, please post them here! Yeah, I know pictures of all the pigs are available on the internet, but personal photos are more fun. "Periodic Pig" "Pig Appeal" "Pig-Tac-Toe" My favorite, of course: "Pig Boy"! (I did not name myself after this pig; the nickname predates this.) By the way, the crowd there was for Oktoberfest. "Porkhos" "Paddle Squealer" "Orange Barrow, the Road Hog" "Uperse Igpe, the Pig Latin Pig" Never could recall this one's name...

July 26, 200519 yr I forgot about those bats! But I never did see many of them. So nobody else has any pig pictures? Maybe this was before we all had digital cameras or scanners...

July 29, 200519 yr I don't remember airplanes in Dayton. Must not have been paying attention... My home 'burb of Beavercreek is currently doing this kind of thing with--you guessed it--giant beavers. (They look ridiculous, by the way.) There are 25 of them in honor of the city's 25th anniversary of incorporation. They've encountered a few problems so far: 1) They are fiberglass and not insanely heavy, so... 2) They are relatively easy to remove, and... 3) They make good centerpieces for college parties. Two have been stolen (and recovered) so far. They've now all been equipped with GPS devices. :lol:
July 30, 200519 yr columbus did it with corn, but they waited until a couple years ago to do it. i think the pigs are cooler and beavercreek is 25 y/o? :lol:

August 19, 200618 yr One of the Houston suburbs (near NASA) has a bunch of pelican sculptures scattered about like this as well.
August 19, 200618 yr They are doing cows in Madison now. I won't subject you to photos of that, though, because 98% of all cities in the U.S. have done this with cows at one point or another. Clearly the cow lobby is strong. (Well, certainly here in Wisconsin, anyway!)

August 20, 200618 yr I really liked the pigs. I wish they would have the big pig gig again. :) I took several pictures, but I don't know where they are right now. :( If I find them, I'll have to scan them, but I will then post them.
