Does anyone on UO in Cleveland play guitar, percussion, or some other instrument, or sing?

I'm looking for other musicians with which to have an informal jam sometime, and thought that I'd check with UO folks who have the same underlying interests in cities and such.

I've been playing guitar for about 14 years, and used to have friends with which we'd just have acoustic jams (complete with brews) and do a lot of improv.  Unfortunately, all of them have moved away and I'm stuck trying to do my own stuff on a loop machine.

Please let me know!

I'm musically inclined but don't own any instruments.

I think it could be fun.  I play guitar and bass, rock for the most part, but lean more electric than acoustic.  The problem is the same we've had trying to set up bike rides; my schedule conflicts with 9-5'er's.  Anyway, if we set up a time and place that works that'd be cool.  If you can make it, Pope, PM me about a loaner guitar/bass if that is what you play.

mr. rockandroller and I might be interested, I'll ask him.  He plays acoustic and sings, I sing.

What type of music do you play (mostly).  Genre or artists?

^ Well...

I'm pretty flexible in what I can play.  I know a lot of 90's alternative and grunge, as well as some Indie stuff.  I have some training in jazz guitar and can bust out some improv solos.  (Though I hope expectations are not high because I've shifted my focus from music during my latter years of college and grad school.)

But as long as I've heard a song or know a melody, and I come up with some kind of accompanying chord progression, granted there are not any unexpected key changes or other surprises.  Otherwise, it's always useful to look up tabs/chords for songs on the Internet.

I'll add that I have some additional hand drums/percussion that I'd bring for someone who isn't entirely musically-inclined, but has a sense of rhythm.

I would love to join you!  I teach guitar full time and was classically trained at Baldwin-Wallace, although I spent my teenage years learning Dream Theater and Soundgarden tunes.  I tend to think I'm fairly well-versed in most styles as I have to teach most styles.  Let's make this happen!

Primarily I'm interested in more indie-ish stuff- Modest Mouse, New Pornographers, Sonic Youth, Pixies, etc., but I'm open to playing just about anything rock-classic rock, grunge, prog, pop, metal, punk, funk, folk, fusion.

Does anyone have a good place to play?

This thread is making me nostalgic for the days when I played bass. I still have it and the amp down in the basement. Wow, I haven't played in about 12 years I guess. You think my callouses are gone? ;-)

What if we went unplugged at Edgewater?

I so wish I had the discipline to learn an instrument!  jealous of your talent!
