Posted July 21, 200816 yr Miami Beach is one of the most interesting places I've ever been to. The Cuban/Latin influence is profound, the art deco is gorgeous, music spilled out on to the streets, parrots/iguanas were all around, beautiful/well toned people everywhere, fabulous shopping, the motorbikes, muscle beach, etc, etc, etc. Just an amazing place and I didn't even get to experience the famous nightlife that South Beach boasts. I can't wait to go back, enjoy. 1. 2. 3. 4. I liked this infill building... 5. Miami Beach government building...Miami Beach is a separate municipality from Miami. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. The famous VanDyke Hotel and Cafe 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. 21. Lincoln Theatre 22. 23. 24. 25. Very cool pedestrian only street (lots of these in Miami Beach) that was soon to be bustling with people for the street vendors. 26. 27. 28. 29. I loved all of these art deco signs... 30. 31. 32. 33. 34. Gorgeous...and exactly what I was hoping to see when I came to Miami. 35. 36. 37. 38. 39. 40. Walking along Ocean Drive... 41. The strip was buzzing with activity. 42. 43. 44. No barricaded off sidewalk dining here. 45. Ahhh...the beach mon. 46. 47. 48. 49. Muscle Beach...these guys were pretty ridiculous. I actually had FloridaGuy take this picture so that I could join them (I'm the one doing pull-ups). 50. 51. 52. 53. 54. 55. I forget who this mansion used to belong to (I know I'm going to be ridiculed for that), but they were shot dead on the front steps...right where people were having their pictures taken. 56. 57. 58. 59. 60. Go Cavs! 61. Yay for more awesome sidewalk dining. 62. 63. 64. 65. Some of the newer hotels... 66. 67. Lots of motorbikes... 68. 69. And I'm out.
July 21, 200816 yr It was Versace's Mansion. I can't believe it's been 11 years. Seems like you hit up Lincoln Road, Alton Road, Espanola Way, Ocean Drive and a walk thru the Royal Palms and Loews hotels.
July 21, 200816 yr Man just look at all that beautiful scenery... sometimes I wonder why I'm still in Ohio! I like seeing snow but I would kill for 70+ all year round
July 22, 200816 yr Great shots. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
July 25, 200816 yr South Beach/Miami Beach is definately one of my 5 favorite spots in the country. I LOVE tropical deco, and the ambience of the area. This area, and Worth Ave in Palm Beach, are the two crowning jewels of South Florida. Thanks for sharing your photos!
July 25, 200816 yr very nice work. fyi check below this scene for a good mb 'frugal' travelor tip: ^this place is of the long running clay hotel & hostel. if anyone is thinking about visiting mb and you want about the cheapest room possible i highly recommend it. it's well run and for those of you who don't like sharing in hostel dorms they have regular private hotel rooms too. i've stayed in the rooms with the balconies you can see above the sidewalk in this shot: http://www.clayhotel.com/
July 26, 200816 yr JC ... these are amazing! This makes me wonder why my wifey hates Miami so much? I simply don't get it? ...
July 26, 200816 yr ^Beautiful women in large numbers. I think a large portion of the modeling industry is there. The first thing I noticed there was the women. Second: The nice weather and vegetation.
July 27, 200816 yr Great job, I was just there yesterday but couldn't really take pics like I wanted cause my 5 month old was with me.
July 28, 200816 yr I just saw Scarface, for the first time, and was really happy that I had been to Miami Beach prior to watching the movie. I'm guessing that the tower they were referring to, early in the movie, was this one in Downtown Miami where I was told the Cuban immigrants came through.
