Posted July 21, 200816 yr Cleveland Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 After that long walk, we sat in the park type thing across from the Jake....I mean Progressive Field and then made our way around the city. My friend thought that I tricked her when I said we were going to the mall :-D We then made our way to Tower City to stop at the mall (which made her happy) and then to make our way to Little Italy.
July 21, 200816 yr Cleveland seriously has one of the more beautiful public malls I've ever seen. I am regularly astonished by how fortunate Cleveland is as a city. Some of the gems that Cleveland has are truly astounding, I think. I wish more people would realize that. Especially as indicated by the photos. :(
July 21, 200816 yr Great pics. Downtown looks great in pictures and so clean with lots of green space!
July 21, 200816 yr Thanks. Although my photos don't show it, there were a lot of people at the mall (well, compared to the last time I was there) and Public Square.
July 21, 200816 yr you had perfect weather for a photo tour. Nice pics! https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
July 21, 200816 yr Thanks. It really was perfect whether, compared to when we were up in Cleveland a week before this visit. My friends and I had went to the Cleveland Zoo and decided that we wanted to eat downtown and walk around. So, I drive there and go crazy looking for a parking spot. I finally found a parallel spot near the corner of 3rd St. and Lakeside Ave. As we are getting out of the car looking for change, a traffic cop or some type of official tells us that you can't park there after four. Then it starts to rain like cats and dogs and I have to drive around looking for a parking spot not able to see where I am going. I end up driving around the Brown's Stadium and then pull into a parking lot. None of us could find where to pay for the parking (all the other cars had tags) and I didn't want to leave my mom's car there. So I had my friend get us out of the parking lot and when she turns onto Summit, we realize that that takes you onto the coastal highway thing. We eventually get off somewhere near Ohio City, and drive down the Detroit/Superior bridge. We get close to the Tower City underground parking area, but my friend misses the entrance, mass chaos ensues and somewhere on Superior near the live-work lofts we change drivers, I make my way towards I-90 (we gave up on the idea of staying downtown) where we hit rush hour traffic. Horrible experience especially in the rain. Reminded me why I hate driving. So, I was really happy to not have to deal with any of that on this visit. lol :-D

July 21, 200816 yr I usually do, but we didn't know when the next bus from the zoo to Public Square would arrive. I really wish that we would have waited. I'll know better next time. lol

July 21, 200816 yr Didn't think of that, but I am not sure if any of my friends have internet access on their phones. I could, but I would have to download and pay for it. Maybe I should just add RTA to my contact list.
July 21, 200816 yr That's definitely one thing I miss about Cleveland, is the amount of urban green space.

July 22, 200816 yr Good stuff! One of the best things visually about downtown is the way fairly dense massing of big commercial buildings alternates with green space, and you really caught that in this set.
July 23, 200816 yr Good stuff! One of the best things visually about downtown is the way fairly dense massing of big commercial buildings alternates with green space, and you really caught that in this set. Thanks. I like that about Cleveland as well.

I'll know better next time. lol Do you or anyone in your party, have a cellphone, pda phone or phone with internet? You could have check right online. the RTA website is not smartphone friendly, imagine trying to load one of those tables. Anywho, I love confusing my coworkers: Them: Oh, how was lunch? Me: Nice, walked around the Mall Them: Oh which one? Me: Oh, Mall B Them: (dumbfounded look)

July 24, 200816 yr I still don't get the new "art" on Mall B. I am usually a big fan of the public displays, statues, etc. downtown.... well, maybe not the firefighter memorial. Great shots Andrew.
