Hungry Howies has gotta be my favorite chain pizza.

We used to smash Hungry Howies pizza at least 3 to 4 times a week when i went to arizona state.

how about a "doesn't eat chain pizza" option?

Does LaRosa's not count b/c they are regional?

Yes, has to be national chain.

Donatos is by far the best but it's also one of the most expensive

Donatos for their toppings...if I'm looking for a greasy binge then Pizza Hut would be the pizza of choice.  The heck with Papa John's.

I can't eat Donato's pepperoni pizza.  Talk about crenating all the cells in your body!  Sheesh!

I guess if I'm being given those choices I'll say Donato's. I like their pepperonis and I like the thin crust. Other than that, I can't say much more about it. Everyone else listed above just hurts my soul.

There is already another thread for this.

National:Donato's or Papa Johns (especially at 2am)

Regional: Hungry Howie's, Gionino's or Fox's

Local, Akron: Luigi's or Fiesta (once in a blue moon)

Local, Pittsburgh: As of now, Stockmano's, but I've heard Fiore's is good too.

While we're shouting out to regional places - Imo's in the St. Louis area!!!!!!!!!!  Mmmmmm thin crispy crust.....  provolone cheese.... toasted ravioli....  :banger:

Donato's is a briny shingle smeared with ketchup.

You should be in marketing.

Unfortunately for Donato's, I am.

Moderator's note: for the benefit of buildingcincinnati, I have added a CiCi's option to the poll.

What---no option for California Pizza Kitchen (CPK).    They are a national chain and much better than any of the places listed in the polling.  Cincinnati doesn't have one---but Dewey's beats CPK anyday.

See, CPK is much different that your typical Pizza Hut or Dominos.

"Little Caesar's" is still around? I remember when I was little we would always order the "big foot" that sh!t was huge.

California Pizza Kitchen has been added. Those who wish to change their vote may do so.

If I can't have it delivered then it's not worthy of being on my list (although CPK is really good).

You'd might as well add Uno's Chicago or something if CPK is being added.

Anyway, regarding delivery pizza joints, I suppose Donato's wins...though I voted for Pizza Hut (guilty pleasure).

Big fan of Donatos. One of the things I miss from Ohio. Yes I'm still alive. Are you happy now ColDay?!

WHOA...it's YOU.

shakey's pizza in kyoto.  it was like eating a piece of cardboard.  yet...still my favorite chain pizza experience.  because I had eaten only noodles and rice for the previous nine days.  I ate so much cardboard pizza, it was amazing.  when I was a kid, shakey's would have a clown doing magic tricks.  he would pull a coin out of your ear or whatever.  then one day, we saw the shakey's magician at the thriftstore, buying a broken cuckoo clock.  he smelled bad that day.

This is stupid, I'm done creating polls if any mod can just add whatever they want to the poll.. where is the integrity of the poll..

Fiore's is very popular... some of my friends are fanatical about it... but I find the sauce a bit sweet.  Never heard of Stockmano's.  I like Angelo's (Bloomfield), Pizza Perfecto (Shadyside) and Harry's (McMurray; too far out for me to go though)

anyways... I enjoyed Donato's when I was in Wooster... but I wasn't aware it was a national chain

Well, if the poll had started out with quality ingredients in the first place...

i'll give a vote to Cici's (aka feces, muahahaha), mostly because of the mac n cheese pizza.  at first it sounded gross, but it's something you should try.  most of the meat pizzas there look completely nasty (chicken = half centimeter white cubes), as well as what i call the 'nothing pizza' cuz it just looks like pizza crust with a clear glaze on it (not sure if it's cheese).

i guess i am pathetic because i have been to cici's multiple times.

I'm in agreement with UncleRando, if they don't deliver, they don't deserve to be on the poll.

Here's my problem with CPK...it's not bad, but it's not pizza. Pizza is simple, crust, sauce, cheese and your choice of pepperoni/sausage / 'everything' / and I guess anchovies, if that's your thing.

Anything else is something other than pizza. Call them "flatbread delicacies".

I know this, because I'm from NY. I have spoken. Please spread the word. 8-)

I heart HH. Though the two that I know of in Cleveland are less than perfect.

Then the post should be titled favorite national pizza delivery chain.  SIGH.......

I can add that to the poll if it'll make everyone happy.

It wasn't not that long ago. It started in Columbus, then opened in other Ohio cities and now they are in five states.

2 votes for Pizza Hut? After a 12 pack I guess its not bad.

Shamefully, I voted for Domino's.  I don't know... maybe it's just what we got growing up... or maybe it's the tangy sauce... or maybe it was just the commercials with this guy that hooked me as a kid.

He also had a Nintendo game.  I voted Donato's, but I do crave Domino's every now and again.  But I also sometimes crave Spaghetti-O's with Franks or White Castle, which makes me gravely ill, so I'm obviously no judge of fine cuisine.

Avoid the noid!!

For me OTHER = Snappy Tomato.

Of the national chains, Papa Johns. Of the regional chains, I love East of Chicago.

And this joke from comedian Neil Hamburger (America's 1$ Funny Man) states my thoughts on Dominos.

Why did God create Dominos pizza?

To punish mankind for their complacency during the holocaust.

HH in Fl was actually quite good for chain pizza. I did not realize they had them around here.

Yeah, they are a Metro Detroit based Chain and they expanded out to AZ and Fl first if I recall. FYI, Metro Detroit is home to three national chains: Hungry Howies, Dominos and Little Caesar's

I regard Papa John's as the Little Caesar's of places not Michigan.

K-Cafe all the way!

  • 4 weeks later...

I went into Cici's pizza (haven't been in there for a long time) to see what they have. It was either that or the chinese buffet next door. Both I knew were going to be under 5 bucks. I went into Cici's, asked them if I could look at the buffet first before deciding, and they said sure. I came back and said "I think I'll pass, I didn't realize you guys only have pizza". As I started walking away, the manager at the register said "we have salad too!!!"

Classic.

If Jesus is going to save us on the quality of pie he finds by walking into the nearest pizza joint to where ever he touches down (and I can't think of a better criteria, really), then I hope he doesn't touch down in the US at all.  Much better Naples.  Thin, chewy crust with fresh pizza sauce and anchovies=yum.  New York style pizza=ok, but nothing to get snobby about.

Papa John's would probably rank #2 for me.

Montezuma's Revenge. The Papa John's sh!ts are worse than the Taco Bell sh!ts!

Disgusting..

Is it me or is NY style pizza pretty salty?

Last time I went to Cici's, it was after a long night of drinking at OU. I had never had worse pizza in my life, even worse than the average Midwest garbage. Needless to say, I threw up soon after eating it. It was worse than Pizza Hut! I'll never set foot in Cici's again, unless to take a dump or something.

Sigh, dear diary...

BTW, where the f$&k is Marco's for an option? Those fishmongers are all over the place, and it's Ohio-based (I think Toledo). So you include Donatos and not Marco's as an option? That makes no sense. Marco's is in at least a dozen states and all over Ohio. It's actually not that bad for Midwest-style trash. I can actually stomach Marco's which is saying a lot for pizza chains that aren't in New York City. Marco's has a pretty chronic crust I must say. In fact, the chronic crust is the only reason I ever consider eating it. If I could order a nothing-but-crust pizza from Marco's, I'd order it all the time.

Still, king of the Midwest is Courtside- not a chain, but the best Midwest-style pizza (which sadly is now "the norm" of pizza). Of course New York pizza buries all these clowns. The Midwest is a disgrace, with Chicago being the biggest disgrace in the history of mankind. If Jesus came back today and ordered a Chicago style pizza, he'd quickly run out and say "you f$&kers aren't even worth saving." For the good of all us, let's just hope Jesus lands in New York City...

As a strict Cathoholic, nothing frightens me more than the prospect of Jesus being served a Chicago pizza. We'll all be f$&ked!

With that said, you should probably put Ohio-based East of Chicago on here too...

Man, Ohio is a garbage factory. It makes sense I guess. We are the New Jersey of the Midwest.

My God, you are a strict Catholic? hmm...

you've got some issues, C-Dawg...

C-Dawg, if you want to get that into it, actual pizza is not made with mozzerella chesse, rather parmesian or romano.  Also, actual pizza does not consist of a "pizza sauce" rather fresh cut tomatoes and the juice from the tomato's.  They are also baked on a flatbread.  Therefore, in that sense, you basically like "American" pizza which is represented by Chicago style and New York style.  And don't give me that midwest style jargon.  There is no such thing as mid west pizza.  That's worse than saying Columbus has their own style pizza.  Don't get me wrong, I love American pizza's and have an open mind for them all, but you can't put down Chicago style because it is not "real pizza".  None of the pizza's you mentioned are "real pizza".
