Now that the Flats lots are getting developed as part of a $500 million development, where should the tailgators go for Browns games.  Is Burke's lot still available for tailgating?  How abut setting up shop at Voinavich Park...or is that just asking for trouble?

Voinovich Park is one of the more beautiful lawns in Cleveland. I would hate to see that get all trampled on.

As much as I'm all for football fans having their fun and having a place to have their fun.

That's what I thought about Voinovich also, but in the winter with the grass dormant and soil frozen, maybe they could have it looking good by springtime again...kind of like what they do for Jacob's Field.

1. muni lot.

2. the pit.

3. Burke

4. Lots behind the county courthouse.

5. the port authority lots (extremely underrated... right on the lake)

6. the lots on west 6th and west 9th.

Maybe. I'm all for tailgating, man. I think it's seriously fun, and it's one tradition that's truly, unabashedly American. People getting together, frying up some burgers and just having a good time .. woo!

Unfortunately, I don't remember downtown Cleveland well enough to think of other places to do so at the moment.

The lots in the Flats bordered by Center Street, Old River Rd., Settlers Landing, and the Cuyahoga.  They're cheap, not too crowded, and easy to get into and out of at the end of the game.

See - THIS is how you do it, folks. :-)

B!tching and moaning that the tailgating parking lots are being obliterated? That's sooooo cleveland.com!

Here at UrbanOhio, gotribe has led the way and found a constructive solution to something that's of genuine concern to the drunken sports nuts fine athletic supporters of Cleveland. :-D

My contribution - here are the lots that are going away (actually - gone as of this moment):

personally we just hang out on our bus at the muni lot... and it's awesome.

I never go anywhere but the Muni Lot.

Some Sunday mornings, I just walk over there, see my friends, eat their food, then stumble back home to watch the game on the TV.

I've seen people tailgate on the onstreet parking, too.  They spill onto the sidewalk.  I could see this happening around the Mall, throughout the warehouse district, or along Lakeside.

The Muni Lot may be the best NFL tailgating spot in the nation, even.  You just have to arrive a bit early.

^ Is that the long narrow lot along the shoreway? When I was driving down there last December, the game was long over but there were still a lot of people hanging out tossing footballs, etc. Empty beer bottles across it as far as the eye could see.

Yep.  They tear it up then return to their homes in other parts of the region.

The pit is my favorite place to tailgate.. hence why I asked the question in the other thread.. the muni lot is fun also, I just favor the pit.

Now, I tailgate at Blondies on the UES.
