Posted August 1, 200816 yr Okay, I finally got to see the new movie last night since we've been so busy with moving stuff, but I was wondering what other actual fans of the show thought of it. (All you haters out there, don't post and make me depressed :x)
August 1, 200816 yr Loved the show, saw the first movie, haven't seen this one yet. I'm interested to hear about it as well. I actually fell off the X-files bandwagon when Mulder left the show. But, I think that had less to do with the story line and more to do with me suddenly having a girlfriend  So anyway, do I need to be up to date on the TV show to follow the movie?

Nope, not necessary, although it wouldn't be a bad idea as things may make a little more sense. Or you can just find a good episode guide and read the summary for the last episode. I don't think the storyline was as strong as it could've been, but there are a whole lot of small references for all the fans, so keep your eyes open.
August 5, 200816 yr I just saw the movie last night. I used to be a huge fan and I had all of the seasons on dvd until someone stole them from me. :x I had mixed feelings about the movie. I definitely don't believe that it was a great movie, but it was good. It just didn't seem to have that same X-Files feel to it that I was expecting. I'd give it a 5 out of 10, but I'll probably end up buying it just to have it in my collection like every other die hard fan.
August 5, 200816 yr aww it was that bad? I can suggest three GREAT summer movies. LMAO  I haven't seen it yet. I getting mixed signals from moviegoers. Some expected to be like the TV series. Some just wanted more "punch" (and I'm not talking about our punch in Chicago). Like Cleveland Pride states, fans of the series left the theatre feeling like something from the movie was missing, but they couldn't put their finger on it. People who didn't watch the series on a regular basis or didn't see the first movie thought it was good.
