Last night, there was a sneak peek at the Waterloo Arts Fest, which will be held on Saturday.  For those who won't be able to make it, here is part of what will be going on...

We begin at Arts Collinwood, and view the great collection of art offered there...

Good night, from North Shores Collinwood!!!

It’s both gratifying and saddening to see that the “art” there looks as awful as 90% of the junk you see in Soho and Chelsea (supposedly the epicenter of the art scene). I guess there’s only so much real talent to go around :-P

Sign Guy is awesome.

So, did you break into "Music Saves".  From the lighting, it looked like a covert operation.

Nice pics.  Have not been through Collinwood in a while.  I was unaware of these places.

I like The Sign Guy, but is his stuff really worthy of being in a gallery?

Some of those sculptures were bad-ass.

Love the photos!

Hell yeah he is. More so than a lot of stuff I've seen in modern art galleries in Chicago & New York.

Art is weird. That's why we try to lean towards things that are simply "silly". Everyone can agree that silly is fun. :)

nice post!  I love seeing this kind of indie vibe coming out of Waterloo.  Shoparooni & Music Saves (and the Beachland, for that matter), we want you in Detroit Shoreway!

^I completely agree - and welcome to UrbanOhio! :-)

Thanks!

Ha ha....well, we don't have plans to open another Shoparooni any time soon. We are working on a kids boutique, though...essentially a children's version of Shoparooni. But with free cookies and milk. ;)

Nope, didn't break in.  The lighting gives it a real cool feeling though, for lack of a better term!  Hey shoparooni, welcome to the forum!

I was thinking basically the same thing.

Thanks!

I made it to the tail end of the Waterloo festival today. Some of the art was good, a lot of it not that great, but Waterloo Rd. is an interesting scene. There are many outside influences on its fragile revival, of course, but I love that it's a piece of Cleveland. It's not a place where people rhapsodize about how it seems like it could be in Chicago or New York or wherever. It's hard to pigeonhole, maybe because it somehow has pulled in some creative locals with divergent visions on what the neighborhood should be and what the purposes of art and music are.

The first photo is Fanny's Diner, Cleveland Ohio, which I believe was on E 152 just north of Waterloo. A lot of other Cleveland stuff too

28 Abandoned Structures Still As Vibrant As The Day They Were Deserted

An empty, foggy diner with the tables still set. An abandoned aquarium, complete with shark paintings on the walls. A desolate church, with architecture still so immaculate, worship could begin tomorrow.
