Posted August 1, 200816 yr Last night, there was a sneak peek at the Waterloo Arts Fest, which will be held on Saturday. For those who won't be able to make it, here is part of what will be going on... We begin at Arts Collinwood, and view the great collection of art offered there... Next, we go across the street to Visions Gallery. They had a great collection... I love this one Next, we head on over to Music Saves and browse their music collection... Next, we head over to North Collinwood's own Shoparooni... They have a great sign!! On to Jerry Schmidt's gallery... I love this one! On to the Beachland Ballroom for a live show and some drinks, when my camera ran out of power!! Good night, from North Shores Collinwood!!!
August 1, 200816 yr It’s both gratifying and saddening to see that the “art” there looks as awful as 90% of the junk you see in Soho and Chelsea (supposedly the epicenter of the art scene). I guess there’s only so much real talent to go around :-P http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

August 1, 200816 yr I like The Sign Guy, but is his stuff really worthy of being in a gallery? Some of those sculptures were bad-ass. Love the photos!
August 1, 200816 yr I like The Sign Guy, but is his stuff really worth of being in a gallery? Hell yeah he is. More so than a lot of stuff I've seen in modern art galleries in Chicago & New York. Art is weird. That's why we try to lean towards things that are simply "silly". Everyone can agree that silly is fun. :)

We are working on a kids boutique, though...essentially a children's version of Shoparooni. But with free cookies and milk. ;)

August 3, 200816 yr I made it to the tail end of the Waterloo festival today. Some of the art was good, a lot of it not that great, but Waterloo Rd. is an interesting scene. There are many outside influences on its fragile revival, of course, but I love that it's a piece of Cleveland. It's not a place where people rhapsodize about how it seems like it could be in Chicago or New York or wherever. It's hard to pigeonhole, maybe because it somehow has pulled in some creative locals with divergent visions on what the neighborhood should be and what the purposes of art and music are.
