One of my favorite views of the May Company building. Such an incredible transformation.

Let there be LIGHT!   Unfortunately the clock wasn't lit up tonight, but wow, what a transformation!

The windows at Public Square were almost all smashed. Euclid Glass was out there earlier today replacing everything. It's almost finished now.

First view I have seen inside the atrium. Looking good.

Wow. Those are really cool! Love the rooftop. Hope a part of the roof is still planned to be open to the public

WOW...that atrium is sweet, so is the rooftop!  Those kitchens though........not a fan.  Still a beautiful renovation!!

They should’ve made this sidewalk red and it would totally feel like a red carpet.?

Already trash in the planters though. ?

And benches and trash cans are nice and good quality, just not sure who would want to sit there facing parked cars and a busy road.

And some of those big planters have no trees? Then, “why bother?”

^Yeah that was strange. IIRC, there was a pattern of 1 tree planter, 2 no tree planters (with some sparse grassy stuff), 1 tree planter, etc

I have never understood why seating is arranged facing the street other than bus locations.  Simply turn the bench 90 degrees and add 2 between the planters for people to congregate together .  I am underwhelmed by the plantings they have chosen.   "The May" inset is a nice touch to the sidewalk.

Looks like they started typing a sentence then forgot what they were writing about lol

^Just waiting to see some of these from your keen eye ASPhotoman. It looks better now then it did as the May Company.

I think the planters also serve as bollards to protect the building.

Great shots @mrclifton88! I think I just followed you on twitter lol

@mrcsh88? lol, there has been a lot of UO / Twitter crossover lately, were all finding each other on other platforms ?

It was covered in scaffolding the last time I saw it. What a transformation. Nice shots!

Between The May, the Residences at Terminal Tower, the renovated 75 Public Square and, of course, the forthcoming SW World HQ, Cleveland will have one of the most beautiful Public Squares in the country.

lol yep, @veganbrisket over here. @urbanetics_ I think posted to your thread or something. Either way (back on topic lol) great building, what a change from a few years ago...Euclid is looking pretty spiffy these days.

Also (to drag it back off topic), what's up with these competing guardians lol looks like it could be a Mortal Combat Fight Scene

I just wish they would have put the casino somewhere else.

^Constitutionally, they still could.

ooooooo they even lit up the may company on the overhang, sweet!

I'm doing some nighttime shots for a developer soon, so while I'm up there at night I'll be sure to get some nice shots on my actual camera ?

^ You and mrclifton88 have this down to a science.

Beautiful photos guys!

I’m looking for the @ASPhotoman and @mrclifton88how to series on YouTube!

Thanks everyone, believe it or not I just use my iPhone 99% of the time... rarely do I have an actual camera with me.  It's all about finding the right angle and making sure the exposure is right, other than that it's just luck! ? Can't wait to see what you get @ASPhotoman  The wall sconces along the Euclid side weren't lit up yet nor the clock (which has been on before) so it looks like there's a few more elements to be activated.  Overall I would say this is one of if not the best example of appropriate and beautiful historical lighting I have seen so far downtown.

Funny you say that...I'm starting up a YouTube channel this month. ? So your request is noted.

Also, does anyone know if the clock has been lit already? Wondering if they're saving that final touch for when they fully open.

When you forget to refresh your browser before posting. ?

When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

I'm so glad they are using white light, instead of colors. Colored lights are cool, but they've lost their uniqueness now that nearly every building downtown is bathed in multi-color lights at night. Starting to get cluttered to my eye. The white light really makes it stand out and lets you focus on the beautiful details of the building.

When is leasing starting? Move in date?

Not sure about move-in but leasing just began last week!

I also toured today and wowza, is this renovation something.? I was blown away.

For those interested, I took a lot of pictures and explained various spaces of the building in this thread on Twitter:

Here are just a couple highlights:

I think these provide a fascinating comparison of how the large floorplans of the department store have been divided/carved out into apartments and public spaces.

So cool!! And there’s so much history here!

Makes me feel good all over! The repurposing of the May is a great metaphor for the resurgence of Cleveland as a vibrant city with a rich history and new energy.

If this isn't courtyard structure isn't location scouted for a future James Bond-esque chase scene I'm going to be sorely disappointed!!!

I'm glad to see those round pillars in the hallway turned out nice, it was a real pain avoiding the big fiberglass clouds when they were cutting them to size. lol

In all seriousness, of all the things I've been a part of with the Carpenters, I'm most proud of the May Company. Best break room views ever.

Latest Cleveland Business Development letter from the Downtown Cleveland Alliance features this sunny pic of The May with the Terminal Tower towering in the background.  So great to have these classic buildings restored to greatness and now coming alive with residents.  The flowers and trees framing these buildings create a postcard-perfect image.  You've got to feel good for everyone that worked so hard to make that restoration of The May such a success.  Thanks for the article DCA!

I stopped a few days ago to get a pic of the bushes / trees in the planters out along Prospect.  For the love of God throw some water on them!!!

The planters seem too big or maybe there are too many of them.

OMG no PLEASE not more things to haunt me at night over not being maintained.  Why is this SO HARD

I hate to be that person but pretty much said this was going to be the end result the minute we figured out what the planters were for.
