Posted August 7, 200816 yr Hi everyone. Well, I've just been laid off in Columbus, but have found new work in Cleveland already. We've (wife, 1mo son, and myself) got to move quickly as my start date is 9/8/2008. We're going to look for an apartment instead of just buying a house for a few different reasons. We're looking to live on the eastside - Cleveland Heights / Shaker Heights area. I've found the websites for a lot of apartment buildings from the visitors website for those two towns, but I'd also like to look at some duplex's and/or homes for rent. We won't have a lot of time to spend looking at places in Cleveland since I'm still working back here in Columbus till the end of the month. I was hoping someone could suggest a rental agent that represents a lot of different landlords on the eastside. We've got a company (one guy really, Andy) here in Columbus called RentFinders. He works with a ton of landlords. You just tell him what you're looking for and he'll line up showings of a lot of places all in one trip for you, he'll even negotiate lease terms with the new landlord for you. When we relocated to Columbus he got us situated in great place in one visit, and got the landlord to get a new dishwasher and waive the pet fees on the place for our dog. It was great! Thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to find a service like that for Cleveland. Any tips from the helpful people on board here?
August 7, 200816 yr Welcome to the forum, and welcome (soon) to Cleveland! I know of someone who may be able to help - would you mind if I had them contact you? They're realtors in the Cleveland Heights office of Howard Hanna. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
August 7, 200816 yr There are also some good short term options on the east side. There is a lady who runs a small company that does this. It could be a good option for you as it will allow you some time to find a place that you really like.
August 7, 200816 yr I would also recommend contacting the cities of Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights as both have relocation services: http://www.clevelandheights.com/relocation_rentals.asp http://www.shakeronline.com/relocation/renting/ Also there is Heights Rental which is a co-op of smaller property owners: www.heightsrentals.com
August 7, 200816 yr Thank you so much for the information everyone! I sent PM's to a few of you, so check your inbox.
